SOURCE: Minolta Maxxum 7000 35mm SLR Camera not working

Dear Minolta friends,
I have recently bought a second hand Maxxum 7000 and a AF lens, but found the body not ocntrolling the aperture while shooting. I know 7000 has someting special. Is my problem is due to lens and body compatibility or actually the malfunction of the body. I am sure the AF lens is ok since i have tried it working with another minolta af body.
Can give me an advice?

SOURCE: maxxum 7000 camera lithium battery

The lithium button cell is under the metal plate where the battery holder attaches. There are six screws holding the plate to the camera. I believe the cell is a CR-2025.

That being said, replacing the lithium battery will only restore the cameras ability to remember your settings and frame counter when the regular batteries are not on the camera. It will not restore functions of the camera.

If the camera is not functioning properly, you have a power problem with the main batteries, not the memory backup cell

Dark, cloudy viewing 35-135mm Sigma lens

The problem sounds like the camera did not reset properly after the last exposure. Minolta deigned the camera to keep the aperture fully open except during exposure.
During exposure it snaps the aperture down to the selected opening, then opens it again to allow enough light for proper focusing. If it did not fully open the blades after the shot, much less light would pass through the lens. The viewfinder would be darker and look murky.
Most likely cause? Dried up lubricants in the camera.
Next likely cause? Teeth broken on a plastic gear.
Get it to a camera repair place. Get estimates first.

Konica lenses do not fit Minolta cameras. I think you messed something up.

Minolta MC and MD lenses worked on the older manual focus Minolta bodies. They will also work on the Phoenix and Seagull clones of the old Minolta bodies.

The Konica lens should only ever be mounted on a Konica camera.

Your 7000i is now a Minolta paperweight. You need to send your 7000i for repair or replace it.

You could also look on Ebay for another Maxxum body to use your lenses designed for the Minolta A mount. As a rule, camera lenses are not interchangeable. You can use any Maxxum lens on any Maxxum body as a rule, but Minolta changed their flash shoe after the original 7000 series. Flashes that work with your 7000i will work with any subsequent Maxxum.

BATTERY COMPARTMENT& PUSH TO SHOOT BUTTON EATEN AWAY BY BATTERIUES GONE BAD

Maxxum 7000 are cheap these days. Get a used one on Ebay and keep yours for parts.
Better yet, get a 7000i, 700xi, 650xi, 800xi or a Maxxum 5, 7, or 9. Why? More focus points, faster AF, more options, same lenses. But you will need to replace your flash.
BTW...remove batteries when you aren't put it away.

Is the Minolta Maxxum 7000 capable of using infrared film?

goneoutthewi,

once the shutter is closed or the shutter open and the mirror is up no light strikes the film except the image. don't forget to use the red markings on the lens as infra-red focuses on a different plane than visible light.

Turn auto focus off?

On the left side of the lens right below the silver lens release button there should be a grey switch with the initials "AF" and "M". Switch it to "M" for manual.

Minolta 7000 Maxxum

The Minolta Maxxum 7000 uses a Minolta A mount, which is also used on the Sony Alpha series, as they bought out Minolta's technology. All Maxxum lenses should work for the most part on the Sony Alpha series of DSLR's, including the autofocus.
