Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. Not defrosting can be caused by component failure.
Those components being:
1. The adaptive defrost control (Item 13 this link)
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=48135&diagram_id=665424#d665424
You can manually initiate a defrost cycle by shorting L1 to test on the adaptive defrost control board for 3 seconds. You should hear a relay click, the compressor and evaporator fan will shut off and the defrost cycle will start. If after about 45 minutes the defrost cycle does NOT terminate then there are other problems. See adaptive picture here for terminal locations:

2. The defrost element is open. ( Item 12 this link)
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=48135&diagram_id=628782#d628782
You can check this by reading resistance between the yellow and the White / Black wires on the adaptive defrost connector. No resistance = open element.
3. The defrost thermostat. (Part of Item 12 assy above)
With power off this is checked for 340K ohms or less reading between White Black and Red wires on the adaptive defrost control wires.
4. A slow or NOT running evaporator fan. Resistance of the motor winding is checked from the BLUE wire on the temp control to the orange wire on the adaptive defrost control. It will read around 180 Ohms.

The only other thing that can cause problems is a clogged evaporator drain. If it is defrosting though it will cause water to leak out the door of the freezer compartment at the bottom left.
It is going to take a meter to sort out which of the 3 components has failed. Let me know if you need anything more.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly
