Check linkage on your carb or throttle body. Check the outermost cable connected to linkage. That is cruise control cable. Follow cable to cruise control box. usually mounted under drivers side fender. You may have to remove fender splash sheild to access. Cable end at carb linkage either pops off or move end forward while holding linkage still & it should come off. On cable end, there is a round hole & smaller diameter slot which holds cable end from coming off the linkage pin. Cable box under fender usually has electric plug. Remove this & unbolt box from fender. Replace new unit in reverse. Before buying new CC box & cable. Check to make sure buttons on stearing wheel are making contact to cruise control box.

Cruse control not worklng

Generally, there is an interlock between the brake pedal, transmission position and cruise button. Most likely the problem is simply corrosion in the connector by the cruise control module in the engine compartment. Secondary: The vacuum line may need to be replaced or just may have come loose. It's time to replace most rubber lines in an '87 car.

You need to replace the whole lever. It's called a multi function switch. It's common and not very hard to do.

Cruise control on 03 buick rendezvous won't engage, no light, replaced cruise control module?

Your best bet is to check what is happening by looking at cruise control data in the PCM and BCM. You will need a high end scan tool to do this. It could be as simple as a bad switch in the steering wheel or a brake switch that is bad or out of adjustment..
