How to remove the pivotrim head from a grass trimmer

Possibly grass wound around the shaft behind the trimmer head, remove the trimmer head and pull out any grass debris, chech for grdryed grass behind the driver flange.

How do I remove Pivotrim Hybrid Head from Echo SRM-225 trimmer head ?

If it is like other trimmers there is a hole on the top side of the head put a small screwdriver in that hole it will stop the head from turning unscrew the head counterclock wise.

I installed the Pivo trim head yesterday. The info that came with the unit will show you how to install it on ANY Weed Eater Unit. Also they have videos on their web site at: https://pivotrim.com/

Look on the end of the shaft of your weed eater at the head. Mine was a 25cc Poulan/weed eater SST45 and it has a hole that you need to stick a HEX KEY in so the shaft does not move when you try to remove it. ALSO it has a BACKWARDS THREAD!!! So "Right is NOT Tight." Left is to tighten and turn towards the right to get the head to unscrew so you can put on the Pivotrim Head. Also you can use ANY Weed Eater line on the unit. As I tried several different lines and found different uses for different lines. Such as edging and trimming against fences. Best after Market Weed Eater head I have EVER used. :-)

Sometimes, strands of long grass wrapped around the shaft above the string head impede movement. On a more serious note, the driveshaft could be broken, or the clutch assembly could have malfunctioned. Disassembly will be required if tangled up grass above the head is NOT the problem.You can get help here to do the disassembly and repairs here, just ask!

on top of the head there is a star shaped bolt(middle of the head), remove bolt and rotate the spool you should see the gear turn, to remove the head from the shaft remove bolt/screw on the side of the shaft towards the top of the head, remove head and inspect the shaft, this should rotate when you pull to start the weed eater, if it does not then you will need to remove the top portion of the weed eater and inspect to see if the shaft is broken or not seeded inside the motor. The shaft cable has either come loose at the head, or is broken at the engine most likely. Is this a 2 piece unit? If so, see if the cable turns with the grass trimmer section removed. If so, it is usually easiest to just replace the trimmer shaft section. One piece units require disassembly at the engine, and if you are not mechanically inclined, that can be a pain.

First take the head off and look for grass, weeds and string wound up in there. A lot of times that's the problem.

Next, with the head off and the switch in the off position, pull it over a few times and see if the shaft spins. If not, could be a broken shaft or a bad clutch.
