I had similar issues and by replacing the 2200 micro (Mu) Farad, 10 Volt capacitor on the PCB, all of my issues ceased.
Below is a link with information supplied by "fixya" that explains the procedure/details.
Hopefully this will solve your current issues.
Good luck,
Mike

My Blue air purifier won't turn on?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from Computers and Internet.

Make sure the filters are properly seated. Contact them at Support direct. It sounds like it might need dealer repair.

I have a Honeywell HPA050 air purifier. Both filter lights started blinking, so I changed both filters; however, I cannot get the red filter lights to stop blinking. I've held them pushed in, I've...

Ignore the lights. Wash the outer foam filter every two months. As long as air is going through the inner filter does not need to be changed. Blow the inner filter out FROM THE INSIDE with your vacuum cleaner. (blow air the opposite direction of air flow to get the nasty stuff off.)

Changed filter and pre filter both lights continue to blink, not resetting

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

Make sure that the new filters you installed are undamaged and correctly seated in it's assembly. When resetting the unit, unit must be powered on then press and hold the appropriate filter indicator button for approximately 10 seconds until the light turns off. If nothings happens, unplugged the unit from the power for about a minute and then try to reset the unit. If all else fails, I would suggest to contact Honeywell for more assistance.

You can purchase a wide variety of high quality Honeywell replacement parts for your Honeywell Air Purifier direct from Think Crucial with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

Have aprilaire 5000 and blue light comes on but unit does not act like it is working lots of dust in house

When was the last time the filter was changed and electrostatic wires wiped? If the light is on the unit is working. Please check the filter media and wipe the fine metal wires on unit adjacent to the pleated filter.

How to change the flter

Turn off the unit and unplug it. Turn the air purifier on it's side and unscrew the locking mechanism (turn counter-clockwise) on the base of the unit. Remove the base assembly from the unit. Remove the filter assembly and find the seam of the pre-filter. Carefully separate the fastener and then remove the pre-filter from the HEPA filter.

Discard the filter(s) being replaced. Then remove the new filter from the packaging and discard the packaging and plastic. Carefully wrap the pre-filter around the HEPA filter so that the ends meet. Fasten the ends together with the fastener.

Place the filter assembly in the air purifier and reattach the base. Then tighten the locking mechanism. Turn the unit right side up, plug it in and turn it on.

You can find a pdf of the manual here: http://www.honeywellpurifiers.com/product/0-90271-50150-4.html .

I hope this helps.

My filters turn black after about a week

I am also experiencing this problem, as well as 2 other people that I found on google, so I am inclined to think tha 3M has changed something in their manufacturing process, I think it very odd that this problem is manifesting itself at this time in different locations.
I have been using this product for sometime, and the problem of filters turning very dark did not exist when I started using this product

It appears to have been on fire, surronding walls & unit covered i

hmmmm... maybe it was on fire... Barring that,
One thing to be aware of is how these things work: they don't actually filter the air. Rather, they electrically charge dust/dirt/etc. particles in the air as they pass through. This new charge makes them attracted to walls, floors, objects, etc. So rather than straining or filtering dust from the air (like a more traditional air filter), they make dust more likely to stick to walls, surfaces, etc. so that you can then wipe them up.
If there is something in the room that is manufacturing air pollutants, it could cause the problem you're having. The most likely culprit is anything that makes smoke. For example: smoking (duh), or burning CANDLES (especially scented candles) or INCENSE.

Red light on...

the unit probably needs to be reset. cause what's happening is that it's not recognizing that the filters are clean. there should be a tiny pin hole at the top of the unit. when the unit is on you need to put a small needle in there and hold for about 5 seconds and the unit should reset. if that doesn't work please please let me know and i will see what else we can do.

Red light on air filter

After spending hours searching for this supposed little hole easy to miss, I called customer service. I found out that it's easy to miss because it doesn't exist!

Here's the correct answer: Once you've replaced the filters, turn the unit back on. Then, with the machine running, press and hold down the on/off power button for about two seconds. The red light will flash and then turn off.
