The easy way to clear the bios password and reset bios is to take out the bios battery and start computer for about 10 seconds and then turn it back off and replace the battery. When you turn it back on you may need to go into the bios and reset everything the way you want it, and don't forget to rest the time and date.
Did you clear your BIOS to rid yourself of the bios password first? Just making sure you are really looking for the hdd password (which you set while setting the BIOS password I assume) There are some tools out there to help you remove/rest the hdd password but lets be sure that's what you need to do first. Be warned, the tools don't always work and unless you remember the password you might be looking at complete data loss and a new hard drive.
A bios password protects access to Bios settings.
BIOS: Stands for Basic Input/Output System. The BIOS gives the computer a little built-in starter kit to run the rest of softwares from floppy disks (FDD) and hard disks (HDD). The BIOS is responsible for booting the computer by providing a basic set of instructions.
It seems that you have forgotten the BIOS password. If this is the case then please remove the button cell on the motherboard for a few seconds and the password would have been nullified.
If you remember the password and want to change it then at bootup press F2 and enter BIOS. Here in the Password option you would be able to change it.
To reset the BIOS password you need to open your laptop to get the battery. Remove first the keyboard and screw the open the back cover of your laptop. You can see there a battery like the battery of a clock but it too large. Remove it for almost 1 seconds and put it back If the BIOS password have there you need to hook up the CMOS jamper.
Go on your manufacturer's website, find the maintenance manual, find where is located the battery and just remove it for a few seconds it may remove the password on your bios. Good Luck!
