How much do it cost? - Thermador SMW272 Electric Double Oven

I am afraid I have bad news for you. This is an expensive repair. I am sure it is not your thermostat. I wish it was that simple.

If you have to turn off the main breaker to shut off power to your unit, there are only two components that control where the power goes to your unit.

1.) Electric Built-in Oven Black Membrane Switch
Note how close on the lower left how close the select buttons for both the, "Bake" and "Broil" are.
Part Substitution: 8304266 Cost: $172.00
This component is connecter directly to:
2.) Range Electronic Oven Control Board Part #: 8303885 Cost: $220.00
The cost is based on Sears parts. You can purchase them over the internet for slightly less.

Only one of these parts is bad. I can not tell you which one without my physically disassembling and testing them.

If I were still working for Sears Home Services or A & E Factory Services and I came to your home. The service call cost would be the part cost X 2, or lets say $220.00 x 2 = $440.00 plus about $200.00 labor, or a bill of $640.00.

The rule of thumb is; " If the cost of repair is 1/3 or more of the original purchase price, buy new".

May I suggest, you go into the internet and search, "Sears Outlet Store". This is a scratch and dent store. You can save hundreds of dollars on a new oven. You also receive a one year warrantee on the appliance.

p2400 - p2320 = 80p loss on original stock cost
to make a p480 total profit p480 + 80p(cover loss) = 560P
560P /4 = 140p
560p +2320 p = 2880 ptotal proceeds
profit = proceeds - original stock cost
profit = 2880p - 2400p
profit = 480p
Answer is 140p

They won't pack up.. The fan is there to circulate the warm air. It might not heat up or cook as quickly as it used too. It will not cost much to fix though, labor will usually cost more than the part itself.

Obviously, it depends on what the fault is but on the assumption that you need a new element, anywhere between £60 and £120. I'd charge about £70 as I only charge cost price on parts. Many appliance engineers have a standard mark-up on the price of the parts, which can be anywhere between 20% and 100% if they think they can get away with it.

If you are able to repair it yourself the cost will be simply for the part plus delivery - about £35.

My charge would be the true cost of the part (£35), 1 hour labour (£15), VAT, and I'd add £10 for call out and fault diagnosis. Total £70.50.

There are many brands and models and the costs will vary. Most require removing the sides of the oven to get to the hinges and springs.

oven ifnitor has failed / remove bottom of oven to replace. not a hard job.. ignitor cost 49 to 70.00 depending on model best to use a maytag flat style . this will cost you less.. mm hope this will help you mm

you'll probably need to replace the whole door and hinges. the internal springs (inside the door) may have failed and allowed the door to drop and damage the hinges. don't believe it's fixable, but is replaceable.
at what cost, i can't guess- even if the parts are still available! compare the cost of fixing to the cost of replacing!

Hi. the electronic oven control board actually costs 198.00 but, the labor charges will inflate the cost because of the need to disassemble and add new wire harnesses. On most models, this relay is separate from the actual control board and it is usually linked via, wires. I would check around to see if you could get a second and maybe a third opinion. In my experience, you should just be able to replace the temp sensor or relay and that should fix the issue. Normally, if the control board is experiencing any issues, you will see a error code of some sort. I would defiantly get a second or third opinion before allowing the service tech to do the repair. that repair cost seems to be highly inflated in my view.

If the element was gone completely then the oven would not heat up at all. If the element blew while the oven was on then that would explain why it was warm. Elements cost between £20-£40, plus any labour costs. You can find this out when you contact the repair shop. Another thing to consider though is that it could be the thermostat, which controls the heat. These cost from around £25 upwards again you would need to confirm this with the repair shop. All in all I think you are looking between £50 - £80 to get it repaired.
