Ps3 everything works plays movies not games

its your lens you can buy one off ebay it kind or alot of work to take apart everything thats what mine did i put new thermol paste on the heat sinks that did not work then i bought a new lens works fine now you tube how to do it all i know nothing on how to fix it youtube has bunch of videos

As long as the movies and games are the actual things and not some burnt rip-off discs you'll be fine. The movie companies do this so their stuff isn't copied illegally.

It might just be coincidence that your blu-ray drive has packed up at the same time as the update. Ring up Sony and tell them this and you could get a new console for free if your in the warranty.

Hi,This is a common problem on the PS3 unfortunately and is caused by a faulty blue-ray drive. Unit will have to go back to Sony for service.You should try a DVD cleaning disk first to be sure that dirt on the laser lense is not causing the issue. You can also open the case and clean the laser lense with a Q Tip and an alcohol cleaning solution. If you plan on opening the case at any stage please ensure the unit is disconnected from its power supply. If this fails and you are confident with electronics there are several videos on YouTube showing how to replace the drive if you choose to order it and do it yourself.Hope this helps. 1.You Should Try to clean your disks 2.put one in and go to games or videos depending on what u r doing and if your ps3 detects there is a game in there press triangle on the disk icon and select play 3.if that didnt work go to http://www.Playstaton.com/Support

 think your lens may be very dirty. And also please tell if the problem is only with this movie or all the other movies as well? 
moreover, if your lens is dirty, you'll have to clean it using a lens cleaner, OR get it replaced lens). 
I got my PlayStation's lens replaced when it was giving me trouble and all was fine after that.

Try a Blue Ray lense cleaner dont where to get

Open up the PS3 and then open up the Blu-Ray Drive. Then clean the lens with rubbing alcohol or isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip. I heard that lighter fluid on a q-tip works way better than rubbing alcohol and isopropyl alcohol, so try using it on a q-tip to clean the lens. I'm not responsible for any damages to your console.
