Not sure what you mean, but if your sd card is not being recognized by your laptop it could mean you need to reinstall your drivers.
Before doing this try using a different sd card incase there is a problem with the one you are using.
According to the Acer Support web site the Aspire One cannot boot from a SD card so you will need to give more details of exactly what problem you are having when booting this netbook.
so are you asking why is it not reading it automatically or that it does not read the card? check to make sure the 4Gb SD card is formatted properly so that Vista can in fact read it. hope this helps.
I reccomend that if you can find a driver for your sd card slot, install it so that your slot could be compatible with all sd cards including HCSD cards.
