I don't know what voltage your battery should be, but I would suggest investment first in a suitable multimeter to measure the voltage your battery is giving - if any. Secondly, I would suggest getting a charger suitable for your battery, and putting the battery on charge. Your own charger will always be useful in the future should your battery become flat due to lack of use, or any other reason.
If your current battery - after being charged for the suggested time in the charger instructions - does not register a voltage, then it is completely useless. If it does register a charge, then you can use it, but keep a close eye on it, as it may discharge much more rapidly than it should, if a cell is faulty for example, in which case regular charging will enable you to use it, although I would not rely on it very much and replace it anyway.
