There's a special trick for taking screenshot on Galaxy models, you just need to swipe your hand from one side to the other side across the mobile screen. You will then get a snapshot when you could hear a shutter sound. You may also grab a snapshot app to do this task and most of them come with valuable editing functions, but you probably need to root your mobile to install them.

Mine did the same. I don't know what caused it, but removing the menu button solved it. Crude but effective. I took a knife, pried out the Menu button, then took a pliers and removed the little black plastic button and problem solved. Now I can't change the settings, but switching between VGA, HDMI, and DVI works just fine. No more annoying brightness pop-ups that don't go away!!!
You could have a USB device connected and switched on and when you boot its trying to find it and boot from it You could set BIOS to boot from hard drive to see if it fixes it
