That was the correct solution. For only $17, my washer works again!! To bad for Sears.

Unplug. Remove 2 screws on both back corners of top acess panel. Slide panel foreward and lift up. It will flip back out of the way. Unplug door switch harness. Pull up on and remove 2 retainer clips that attach backing plate to body. Pull up from back and remove housing.

Sounds like the water valve stuck and humming trying to open. Check voltage at water valve should have 110 volts. If you have voltage replace valve.
