Double check the control options from the setting menu. One of the control schemes is nearly identical to the default setting of Fight Night Round 3

I had a similar problem with 2 brand new copies of Halo 3 I purchased on launch day.
Both copies gave me an unreadable disc error on one of my 360's and both copies worked perfectly fine on the other console.
The console with the problem would play any other game just fine.
I sent the one with the read errors back to Msoft for repairs because it was still under warranty and it has worked fine since.

For some reason some games on the 360 can be a bit tricky to say the least, if it were my console i would strip the machine down, strip out the dvd drive and open it up to clean the laser.
you can clean the laser with a good old cotton earbud and a bit of spit which is just as good if not better than the sprays you can buy.
another thing to do is adjust whats called the 'pots' these are little dials on the laser circuit board which control the power etc of the laser beam. i do have a guide on doing this and you can have it free if you need it.
