Hi I am wondering what is wrong with my camera. Everytime I try to take a picture, there appears to be a bunch of blind effects (lots of horizontal lines going across the photo) but when I use it in video recording mode, it turns out okay. What can I do to fix this? Thank you.
It's a known problem. Canon is stepping up and repairing them regardless of warranty state. There is an 800-number and an email link. See the Service Notice: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=PgComSmModDisplayAct&fcategoryid=225&modelid=13390&keycode=2112&id=29819
Call canon
When shooting a subject with a strong light source, such as the sun, black lines or other noise may appear on the recorded image. This is called the smear phenomenon and is specific to the CCD of the camera; this is not a camera malfunction. To prevent this from occurring, do not shoot a subject with a strong light source directly.
If the issue persists with all shooting conditions, it may be an issue with the Camera.
Try initializing the Camera. To initialize the Camera, please use the Initialize option under the setup 1 Menu.
If the issue persists, perform a power reset of the Camera.
