Old xbox360 disc tray wont close at all

Is it with everygame? I had the same problem with my xbox. If I tapped on the xbox after I closed the tray you could hear it read the disc. After awhile I was annoyed and afraid I could ruin a disc so I went to gamestop and had them fix it.

The tray component gears were probably stripped and the tray is now shifted vertically to high or low. Because when the tray moves back and forth the inside eye set up moves into the disc to hold it. Solution Have X-Box fix you problem for around $80 or less. Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX. They will send you a postage paid box. Also check to make sure nothing lose was in the xbox and also try to slam the door hard over and over as it try to slid in itself.

My 360 is/was having a similar problem...my 360 would say "reading disc" then "open tray". Well since my system is only about 8 months old...I opted to send it in for repair. Its under warranty. My system is in route to be fixed as we speak. I would advise you to get yours registered too.

Try putting the game in straight. By straight i mean putting the disc in where the xbox 360 logo at the top of the disc goes in the tray towards the xbox360. if that does not work contact microsoft

i think thats a device defect and if so and its under a year then you can go online to the Microsoft website and register the 360 if you havent done so and report a problem to it then theyll send you a box and you sent it back and usually get it back in a week...if its over a year old and dont have the 1 yr manufactor warranty then im not reallly sure....sorrry 

what does it say when you put the disc in and trys to read? If it says unreadable disc then take a postcard or a little index card and put it in the tray while its closed with a disc inside and start from the left and swipe slowly to the right and it should start working

That is how the X-Box works. It doesn't stay open, because if it stood open and it accidently dropped or anything, the drawer would break, and that would cause alot of problems with Microsoft. Thanks for using Fixya!

no the eye is either dirty or broken did you get it wet or did it fall off something

It can only be repaired by the repair shop I think your son broke a lug on the inside it may need a new tray?
