This could be caused by a couple of things. The most probable is that the door switch has failed and will need to be replaced. This could be also caused by a failure of the control board, but this is not nearly as likely.

Unplug unit for a minute or 2 and try again and make sure the door is completely shut. If this doesn't help, the door switch is the next thing to look at. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: washing machine maytag performa

This problem is normally attributed to a combination of two things: A worn out snubber ring, and a worn brake assembly.

The snubber ring assembly is a white teflon ring that sits under the wash tub at the base (called the milk stool, because it looks like an upside down milk stool).  The entire wash tub assembly will rest on the snubber as it helps get rid of vibration while the tub agitates and spins.  When the snubber starts to wear down, you will notice an increase in tub vibration during the spin cycle and it will sometimes begin to squeak. NOTE: YOU CANNOT OIL THE SNUBBER! DOING SO CAN CAUSE MORE DAMAGE.

The brake assembly is mounted between the pulley wheel and transmission under the washer.  As the brake assembly ages, the pad (which is mounted along the rim of a metal disc) begins to glaze over.  As it glazes, it will also squeak and cause the sudden "slamming" to a stop.  The glazing, coupled with humidity in the air can make this condition worse.

Both problems occur normally with this model washer and can be attributed to normal wear and tear.  I recommend replacing the brake assembly and snubber at the same time.  You will need, however, a special Maytag brake removal tool and spring removal tool if you decide to attempt this repair yourself (it is possible to accomplish this without the aid of a repairman).  Let me know if you need further assistance.  CAUTION: THERE IS A 200 LB COMPRESSED SPRING UNDER THE BRAKE HOUSING.  ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE COVER WITHOUT THE BRAKE REMOVAL TOOL CAN BE DANGEROUS.

SOURCE: Door will not lock to start wash cycl

This sounds like a classic door lock problem. There was a design change in the lock assembly because of numerous problems.
You say you had the door replaced, did they replace the lock assy also?
The control puts power to the wax motor that operates the latch. As the door locks, the latch activates the lock switch that tells the control the door is locked.
What kind of reading are you getting on the lock switch?
Thanks/Mike

SOURCE: whirring noise in spin cycle, 7 year old machine

Checking the pump woulb be the first step. The pump bearing get worn and begin to sqeal. If the pump is alright then the problem could be the spin bearing.

How do I remove the locking function on my washer when already begun cycle so I can add an extra item I forgot put in without having start again. Is it possible?

On later model front loaders they have a Stop & Add button so when engaged you can add more to the wash load. Unfortunately earlier washers don't have it so once the cycle starts that's basically it. That's the reason some people prefer top end loaders as it not a issue

Why is F16 code flashing up on my bosch avantixx washer dryer

The door is not locked properly.
Open and close the door again and press the "start reload" button (play and pause button). If necessary, open the washing machine door, remove some of the cothing items and then push the door closed again. You can also try switching the washing machine off and on again, setting the programme and then starting the programme.

How do you soak whites in this washing machine. I do not have a soak cycle

Hi I tried to answer you but somehow I think my answere was lost so I will try again. I think you should be able to add the clothes and detergent that you want to the machine. Start it normally and when the wash cycle starts, simply stop the machine and let it set for as long as you want then start it up and let it finish the wash cycle. Have you checked the operators manual? How about taliking to someone from the store you bought this at, they might be able to help you with the specifics of your machine.

Clean light flashes 7 times

try doing button setting change from "Hi-Temp Wash - Normal - Hi-Temp Wash - Normal" sequence of button selections. This must occur within 6 seconds and initiates an internal diagnosis of the machine.
The process runs for about 19 min. and shuts off
During the process several LED's light up and several funtions start and stop.
If the machine has no broken systems, you should be able to open the door add some soap and the usual dirty dishes and carry on with normal operation. this is the method to reset the machine.
Most likely is that there were suds in the last cycle or the door doesn't close smoothly.

Stopped operating in the spin cycle

With a heavy blanket you probably have an out-of-balance condition which doesn't let the machine spin out and drain. This would keep the door lock from opening. Try hitting the Stop button twice. This should cancel the cycle and let the door lock open after a little while. Then either redistribute the load or add some items and run a Spin and Drain cycle.
