What temp should the fridge and freezer each be?

Fridge temps are actually cooled by the freezer,try turning freezer temp down somewhat-and I highly recommend buying a fridge thermometer,generally speaking I try to keep my fridge at about 34-35 degrees,you can go SLIGHTLY higher,is fridge section directly over freezer??

Holding fridge door open allow warm air into fridge/freezer that's why temp is going up .Maybe you device have a temp cutout which in your case 46 degrees.
