1.mention Operating system 2. have you installed multimedia controller driver ... 3. if not install driver . 4. does it have a built in speaker .. or you connect an external speaker ...
you need to install a sound driver in order to make the speakers work. if you don't know how to find the driver, please explain your laptop model with more detail and i'll get it for you
You don't need any drivers to make the speakers work what you need is the audio chip drivers for your motherboard ( the model of which you have not mentioned ).At the bottom right hand side of your desktop next to the clock do you see a icon of a speaker ?. If you don't , your sound driver has not been loaded. If you have the motherboard utility disc the drivers will be on it. If you don't ,you can go to the motherboard website on the net and type the model number and download all the drivers necessary to run the PC. Just remember after loading the drivers remember to restart the PC to make the application run.
Driver might need to be reinstalled but to confirm this you should attach any other set of speakers of Headphones. However the driver or improper installization of windows xp usually causes this on getting updated. I'm not sure that what windows you are using therefore you can probably just check if the cables are pind in right sockets and that the Speackers are getting power. As far drivers are concerned the Speakers do not have any drivers but the sound card does, therefore if you have not installed the drivers of sound card you may install them now. This may solve the problem hope fully
if it is possible to u have not install proper driver in your pc.firstly u have to uninstall your sound driver in your pc and install the new sound driver, but properly install ...after that your sound is working
