In new browsers, your set your preferred search engine. If you browser loads something like Search Conduit, your browser has been hacked. This typically happens when you install Google, Adobe, VLC Video Player, Handbrake Media Encoder. All these programs ask you to install extra search components. This especially problematic with VLC and Handbrake which are good tools. But, you cannot fly through the install otherwise you will install something you did not initially intend to.
