SOURCE: Dell Dj version 1.00.03 so i cant find my dell dj

Hi,

As you have described that you need a driver for your Dell DJ, you may download either Dell DJ (Gen 2), v.1.01.01, A01 or Dell DJ (Gen 2), v.1.00.03, A00. Both versions are compatible with Windows 2000 and XP. Click on download and follow the procedures. Keep in mind that versions of softwares and drivers are limited from manufacturer's releases.

I hope this works for you. Kindly reply for further assistance. Good Luck!

My computer does not recognize that my dell dj is plugged in when using yahoo music jukebox. When I try to transfer music from the computer to the dj, it tells me "no device connected".

My Dell Pocket DJ Sofware in not compatible with

Not compatible or not working well with windows 7?
(making a program work with windows 7)

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:)) julyallan01_52.jpg

I have a discontinued dell pocket dj player that when i download the software it says it isnt compadable how do i fix this i have a vista.

Go to dell.com and enter the DJ's service tag ID on the back of your player on the support section. It will give you a list of drivers and software that you will need for your DJ. If you are running Vista, download the XP drivers. They will work fine.

Dell DJ (Generation 2) not being recognized by computer

Found the answer on Dell Forums. A lot of Dell DJ folks have been having the same issues. The problem is with Windows Media Player (shock). The Windows driver dated 2006 is installing itself and taking over, not allowing Dell's 2005 driver to work. The bottom line is the DJ will dock but not be recognized by your computer, Windows Media Player, or Yahoo Music Jukebox.

To check to see if this is the issue dock your DJ then click on start, right click on my computer, and then hit properties. Click on hardware tab and go to device manager. Look for portable devices on the list. You will likely see your DJ with a yellow (!) next to it. Right click on the DJ and hit properties again, then look in the driver tab to see what driver is listed. If you see a driver with the date 2006 or newer, then Windows is screwing you up.

The only way I've found to fix this is to either uninstall Windows Media Player or go back to an old enough version that the 2006 driver is not in the system. The 2006 driver is from Microsoft and somehow it interfers with the proper driver, which is from Dell and should be dated either 2004 or 2005. Once Windows is uninstalled completely, or back to an old enough version that you are safe (I am not sure how far back you must go, I just uninstalled the darn thing completely), you need to uninstall the Dell driver then go to Dell's website and reinstall the latest. Also make sure you have the latest firmware.

It sounds like a lot of work but it honestly took me longer to type this note that to do it and I don't have a clue what I'm doing. It's better than throwing away your DJ. From the comments I saw on the Dell Forum, Dell is not aware of the issue and isn't much help. Many people spent hours on the phone with Dell support only to hit a dead end and get the recommendation to replace the device.

Hope this helps all. A huge thank you to the folks over all Dell Forum who figured out the solution despite Dell's technical assistance.

Dell DJ Gen 2 Won't connect

if your Dell DJ player is no longer recognized by the upgrade firmware even with the correct, original device driver installed, then you will need to install a windows 'MTP' driver by doing the following. Note that this applies to Windows XP only.

1. make sure you have the SP2 XP upgrade.

2. Install Windows Media Player 10 or roll it back to version 10 if you are using a later version. You can roll it back by going to 'Add or Remove programs' and uninstalling any WMP upgrade from the 'Change or Remove Programs' dialog window. Note: don't uninstall WMP enitrely from the 'Add/remove windows components' dialog.

3. Go get this file: fixup.zip Unzip it in a temporary directory and run the fixup.cmd by double-clicking in explorer or using the windows 'Run' command. Follow the instructions it prints in its DOS window about deleting the Dell device in the hardware manager.

4. plug your DJ player into the USB port. XP should now say 'Found MTP device' or something similar.

5. Get the Dell DJ 1.02 firmware from their support site appropriate for your player. Run the firmware upgrade. The software should detect your player this time.

A good reference for the Dell DJ stuff is here: gotzune.com

Note: I can't personally recommend the 'PlayForSure' firmware as I have not been successful upgrading to it. WMP 11 does not seem to work with the Dell DJ but WMP10 does and the device Sync function works just fine.

For almost ALL of the MP3 players out there that seem bricked due to a firmware upgrade failure or some other reason, they can be usually restored in a simlar way by installing a basic 'MTP' driver which allows windows to at least send a file to it, and by putting the player into a recovery mode as defined by the manufacturer.
