The power light is faint and flickering on and off

Got up this morning and noticed the power light is faint and flickering on and off I'm unsure if there is a problem as everything inside is still frozen but I am concerned there is an issue. I plan to check the freezer periodically today to make sure my items aren't thawing This is an issue you are aware of? Is there a quick fix? Thank you

These power lights are usually of the neon lamp type, and they typically do not last a long time, especially when they are powered on 24/7. They typically fail by flickering at first, then, eventually, they just go out. If you feel confident as a "do it yourselfer", you can often replace this lamp for only a few bucks, but it does require disassembly of the control unit. Otherwise, I'd just leave it alone. If you're concerned about food loss, I'd invest in a freezer alarm.

P.S. - the lamp has no bearing on the operation of the compressor unit. On, flickering or out completely, the freezer will still operate normally.

If it is out of warranty the cost of repairing it may be more than the cost of replacing it.

Green light on chest freezer flickering?

this just means the light is burning out (loosing its filament) it does not effect the operation of the freezer, it just is an indicator that you have power at the unit.

Why is the power light flickering on my Emerson 3.5 cu. Ft. Freezer chest model CF450

Just noticed your question from 2012 - my answer is probably irrelevant by now, but here goes. The power on light is of the neon lamp type, and they will often fail after a year or so, typically by flickering, then getting dimmer and eventually going out. If you feel confident, you can replace this lamp for only a few bucks, but it does require removal and disassembly of the control unit. It would probably cost more than the freezer is worth to have an appliance tech do this. The lamp has no bearing on the compressor function; the freezer will continue to work with or without the lamp. If you're concerned about food loss, you might consider investing 25 or 30 bucks in a freezer alarm. Hope this helps.

The light on my chest freezer will flicker on and off when I open the door. It will only remain on when the door is in a certain position. How do I fix this? Secondly, the red "on" light on...

Both light flickering probably indicates a problem with the plug or the cord. If it was just the inside light I would suspect the door switch, but both light would indicates an open short in the wires or plug.

Check the plug connection at the wall and see if it is loose. While unplugged check the cord for any nicks or cuts. Plug something else into the same wall receptacle , like a light and see if the power to the receptacle is ok.

If none of the above work then it is time for a qualified repair person.

The light that is supposed to indicate on/off is flickering. However the freezer still works fine. How can I fix this?

Hi,
The flickering light is nothing to worry about... as long as it is flickering it is considered to be "on"
If there is no light then you need to worry...
The light flickering is not something that you need to fix...

Orange light in front is flickering almost constantly. What might this mean? The food seems frozen -ice cream is fine as are breads and meats.

Hi,
It is normal for those lights ot flicker.. as long as the unit is working then do not worry about that...the light really is just showing you that you have power to the unit...

Power signal light is flickering

If the unit is still working, and the power light is flickering, don't worry about it. I've seen this very often where the small, rectangular power light flickers and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the unit. It's just the light going bad. It will probably, eventually go out all together. Again, as long as it's working and keeping temp. don't worry.

Trips breaker when door opens

Sounds like the switch or wiring around the switch is shorting out. Most light switches pop out with a screw driver. Some older units might have a small heater in the door around the seal but usually not See if there is any wiring going through the hinge pin. If so you can safely cut and tape this off. The door might sweat a little but this is a solution. Please deal with this as it could be a shock hazard. You might not notice if you touch and are wearing dry shoes, but a barefoot child could be killed.
