How do I open the vac to check the belt and clean the hose ? I followed the link and it makes no sense to me, see details

The power nozzle refers to the beater bar located inside the bottom of the brush or the machine depending on if you have an upright or central vac unit. Lay it down or turn it over, you'll see the brush in the bottom, that's the power nozzle. Remove the cover screws and cover and replace the beater and/or belt as needed. Take images as you disassemble to make sure you get it all back in correctly.

I just bought a Hoover Air Lite, and the mechanism that moves the belt isn't doing anything, I tried resetting the brushroll but that didn't do anything. Why is it not working and what can I do to fi

Hi Brian! The vacuum must be in vacuum mode for the brushes to spin. Try these trouble shooting steps below to get your brushes spinning.

1. Power the vacuum on.
2. Recline the handle by securing the nozzle and pulling the handle back.
3. Press the brushroll on/off button located directly next to power button.

The brushes should begin to spin, if not repeat the same steps only you will press the brushroll on/off button twice consecutively. This is the brushroll reset procedure. Hope this works out for you!

Why

Hi! There are a few reasons why your brushes may not be spinning. Try these simple steps below.

1. Your brush roll may be clogged. Unplug the cleaner and remove any debris from brush roll.
2. Make sure the brush roll setting is turned on. The brush roll on/off switch is located on the handle of the hose.
3. Reset the brushes. The brush roll reset button is located on the back of the nozzle on the right side.

Hope this helps! If you still have questions feel free to reach out to us here on Fixya, Facebook.com/dirtdevil or Twitter @DirtDevil.

Beater bar will not operate on carpet cleaner head

Is the power nozzle motor running? If not, press the reset button located on top of the power nozzle. If it is, then either something is caught in the brush or the belt is broken. Due to some difficulties in reassembling the power head correctly, I highly recommend this seemingly simple job being done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux technician. If the problem is something else, the tech can easily find the problem. Take the entire machine in to the shop to help the tech narrow the problem down.

Central vacuum won't start even after depressing the reset button on the carpet sweeper. Hose and wand appear to be unclogged.

Is it only the power head that's not working, or the central vacuum itself? Disconnect wands from hose, turn on, and hold hand over hose end to check for suction. If none, go through first set of steps below.

If the vacuum:
1. Press reset button on vacuum.
2. Check circuit breaker at the circuit box to make sure it's ON.
3. Make sure the unit is plugged in completely.
4. Use a voltage tester to check for power at the outlet.
5. Check filter. If dirty rinse it with warm water, and allow to dry thoroughly. I strongly suggest having a second filter for use during drying, then just trade off using them.

If the vacuum still doesn't turn on, consider the following:]
Broken or worn out power switch in hose handle...Switch needs replaced.
Broken wire in hose...Replace hose.
Bad connection...Needs taken to an authorized Aerus service center for check and repair.

If the power nozzle (suction at end of hose, but power nozzle doesn't work:
1. Ensure the brush has been thoroughly cleaned of any hair, string, and other items that may have wrapped around it.
2. Power nozzle motor runs, but brush doesn't turn when vacuum is on...belt needs replaced.
3. Power nozzle motor does not run...All wiring, connections, and motor need to be checked.

If you can't determine the problem with the above helps, the entire machine, including hose, wands, and power nozzle, needs to be taken to an authorized Aerus service center for complete check.
If you don't know the location of the nearest Aerus Electrolux store, go to below site, type in zip code, and click on "view dealer list". They may also be able to send someone to pick it up.

The reset button on the "sweeper" is only to start the "sweeper" motor after it has shut off due to the brush getting jammed. It doesn't effect the vacuum operation.

Does the kirby G5 have a reset button? If so,

No reset button. It sounds like you might have one of several possible problems. Some ideas I have that you could try yourself would be to check the lockout switches: there is one behind the head nozzle, maybe the nozzle is on crooked, if so, maybe not engaging the safety switch, the other lock-out is located where the bag screws on, unlock the bag and re lock it to ensure proper fit. Otherwise, take it to the shop because it could be the motor, the cord, the switch. Hope this helped ya. Let me know. Thanks, Rene (the Vacuum Doctor)

Power nozzle suddenly stopped working (no power or vibrating). Can these be repaired or should I just buy a new one?

Hello. Check out your reset button located on the top of the power nozzle. It is either black or red. Turn the cleaner on, and while running, push in the reset. Voila! It should be working again. The reset is put in the vac to protect your power nozzle motor. You have a geared belt that is driven by a circuit breaker protected motor. This way, if there is an overload on it, it will shut off, allowing you to clear it and reset it. I hope this helps! Have a good day.
