You do not need to power up the handset to delete the old intercom number, you do this on your base station. At your base push Function, then scroll up to Registration, push Enter, scroll to de-registration, push enter, scroll to the right and highlight that intercom number that you wish to delete, push Enter then Clear. If your not sure which intercom number it was, take a piece of paper and a pen and look at each functional handset you have, and notate the intercom number which is in the upper right hand corner. You can send your dead handset in for repair to have a backup, so don't toss it.
SOURCE: Where is the redial button
It's the button directly above 1. It looks like two circles that overlap, push that and then you can scroll down to view recently dialed numbers.

SOURCE: Kx-tg1100 registration to anoter base
sorry, it seems that they have to come from the same model base. however, the procedure to reset handset numbers for the 1100 may work for you. there is a 15 digit number on the base unit. try to type that into the 1100 and see if that will register the 1100 to your old base.
