User passwords:
Power on
BIOS execution can be controlled by a Power On Password. This password is set in the BIOS Configuration screen, accessed by pressing the F1 key after pressing the power on switch to turn on the PC. If the person at the keyboard does not know the Power On Password, then BIOS execution halts.

Hard drive
The hard drive is controlled by the Hard Drive Password. After the Power On Password is entered, the person at the keyboard must be able to enter the Hard Drive Password, otherwise the disk drive will not spin up for use. Like the Power On Password, the Hard Drive Password is set in the BIOS configuration screen.

Administrative passwords:
Each of the two user passwords can be controlled by a Master or administrative password. If the administrative password is not set, then anyone who knows the user password can change it in the BIOS configuration screen. If the administration password is set, then it is impossible to reset the user password unless you know the administrative password. The Supervisor Password is the administrative password for the Power On Password. The Master Hard Drive Password controls the Hard Drive Password.

Password Recovery is a feature of Client Security Solution 6.0. This makes it possible for an end user to recover from the problem of "I forgot my Power On Password or Hard Drive Password."

Please help me : :' my pc is lenovo g500 and i forgot password bios who help me please

Hi,

I do google your problem and look to the lenovo G500 manual.
here's the manual says.

sources: http://www.lenovo.com/shop/americas/content/user_guides/g410_g510_ug_en.pdf

BIOS password problems I forgot my password. • If you forget your user password, you must ask the system administrator to reset your user password. • If you forget your HDD password, a Lenovo authorized servicer cannot reset your password or recover data from the hard disk. You must take your computer to a Lenovo authorized servicer or a marketing representative to have the hard disk drive replaced. Proof of purchase is required, and a fee will be charged for parts and service. • If you forget your administrator password, a Lenovo authorized servicer cannot reset your password. You must take your computer to a Lenovo authorized servicer or a marketing representative to have the system board replaced. Proof of purchase is required, and a fee will be charged for parts and service.

But in my own way of troubleshooting.
1. open your Lenovo G500
2. Check your motherboard and look for bios/cmos battery.
3. Remove the battery
4. Get flat screw driver then put it between two pins where the cmos battery attached.
5. Hold it for 10 to 15 sec.
6. Put the cmos battery back and the motherboard
7. Power it up and holla the bios setting has been reset to default.

Lenovo laptop HDD locked/Sata port 0 locked, insydeh20 bios locked, can't go to boot selection(it brings me to the HDD prompt password again). help!

Sorry, you're hosed. If you forgot your HDD password the only thing you can do is replace the drive and rebuild your S110. There is no way to remove or reset it without using the original password in the original motherboard. Period.
If you're misinterpreting the screen information and it happens to be the bios user password that's forgotten it is possible to have an authorized Lenovo repair center reset it with adequate proof of ownership. Lenovo themselves will not do it. If it's the SVP password for the bios the only solution is to replace the motherboard. Period.

Having passwords that can be reset like in the old days just by jumpering 2 wires defeats the purpose of having a password in the first place.

Remove the biose password lenovo x201

I always recommend popping out the CMOS battery and then putting it back in. This resets all of the settings in the BIOS including the password. In the case of a laptop it can be a bit of work to open it, locate the battery and perform this but it is much less risky than uses the software that is available to crack the BIOS password and then remove it.

This site gives some useful software options for resetting the BIOS password:
