Replacing the pump in my LG tromm

My LG TROMM sounds like something is in the pump rattling and wont pump out the water. If I release the water from the bottom drain it will then spin. If not it just sits and makes noises. DO I need to replace the pump or could it be something in the pump like a hair pin or a nail. I just removed a drill bit this morning from the filter.

Cheaper to check for a problem in the impeller first as the pump motor seldom fail but there are problems with items jamming the impeller

SOURCE: LG WM-2277HB washer does not drain and make rattling noise.

You will need to replace the drain pump motor. The pump impeller has separated from the motor shaft. You can push it back on, but it will just come off again. I have not tried adding adhesive because I didn't want a call back. That may work if you want to try it. To replace pump motor:
Take the rectangular recess out by using a putty knife on the left or right side, Remove phillips screws mounting pump. Pull machine forward about two feet to allow you to tilt the machine back to lean it against the wall. Reach under to access the pump. It is held in place by a plastic tab you can depress to remove, but if you break the tab, don't worry, as the mounting screws will hold your pump in place just fine when reinstalled. Remove pump by disconnecting hoses and electrical plug. Change out pump motor (three phillips head screws)

SOURCE: Why won't the drum spin on my LG Tromm front load washer?

I had the same problem and it was a bad sensor assembly (#6501KW2002A). You can order
it from an online electronics store (www.mcminone.com). Cost is approx. $20.

I fixed it based on a thread from 2007:
See http://www.fixya.com/support/t159708-lg_washer_wm1832c

But, here's what I did:
1. Unplug the machine.
2. Take off the back plate that has 4 small screws.
3. Unscrew the big bolt in the middle.
4. Take off the hubcap looking part the bolt was securing.
5. Unclip the two sets of wires on the bottom of the circle you are looking at
(the set of wires to the right are connected to the sensor assembly you want to replace).
6. Unscrew the 6 smaller bolts to take off the circular piece that the sensor assembly is snapped to.
7. Mark with a pen where the sensor attaches so you know where to snap the new one.
8. Unclip the old sensor assembly and clip on the new one
9. Reassemble.

SOURCE: My LG TROMM (WM1812CW) does

This code means that something is blocking either the water drain pipe, pump filter or the pump itself. I had the same problem and removing the filter (as recommended by LG) did not help. It turned out I had a piece of debris stuck in the pump propeller itself and consequently the water would not drain and the wash would not finish, prompting the error. This is what I did to fix the problem.
1. I removed the cover on the left bottom corner and the removed the filter and unhooked the little rubber tube (drain).
2. I removed the pump cover (lower left corner of the washing machine) and unscrewed 3 screws holding the pump from the front.
3. I disconnected the power supply and removed the back panel (attached with 4 screws)
4. Disconnected the two hoses (one black, one gray) from the pump.
5. Disconnected the power supply to the pump (I had to cut a plastic tie holding the connector in place in order to bring the connector closer so I can disconnect it).
6. Removed the pump by pressing a little tab that was holding it from the back.
7. Once I removed the pump from the washing machine, I took three screws out of the pump motor, gaining access to the propeller. This is where I found a little piece of plastic. Apparently propeller couldn't spin because of that obstruction.
8. I put the pump back together and attached the hoses. This is easier to do when you have the pump closer to the back opening of the washing machine.
9. I then connected the pump power supply connector, locked the pump back in its place and replaced the screws.

The total repair took less than 45 minutes. The hardest part was to remove and replace the drain tube springs, because I did not have the right pliers (You need decent size pliers or plenty of strength in your hands to squeeze the metal bands).
The tools you need for this repair are:
a philips and flat screwdrivers, large pliers and a sharp knife (to cut a plastic tie)

I have an LG Tromm washer. I start it up it start

Hi,

LE code stands for locked motor error. When this error code appears in your front load washer it indicates a fault in the motor unit.

1 . Check the connections to the Coil/Stator at the rear of the unit possibly it should be something like a broken wire.

2 . Coil/Stator Assembly will be defective preventing the drive to operate. You should go for a replacement of that assembly.

Thank you !!

Water not filling machine and do not see suds but it does sound like its filling up. Hear it filling but do not see any water

Not sure of your model but the larger LG front loaders have 2 pumps, 1 for drain and other to pump water up over the clothes through a fitting in the top of the door rubber seal. If something is stuck in the pump or the pump has failed the clothes wont get wet.

I have the LG Tromm 27'' Front Loader model WM2277HW

The LG error code OE simply means "the pump is blocked". Presumably the water isn't being emptied properly. As with all error codes it is possible that there is a cause other than the exact description in the error code explanation but basically this error means as far as the washing machine is concerned it thinks the water isn't pumping out. A pump, or filter blockage is the most common cause but it could be caused by other faults such as a faulty pump, or even a blockage in the drain hose or somewhere else in the system etc.

LG themselves have some information on this error code..
