SOURCE: I had my Rolex watch serviced 2 years ago By Rolex and now

Either the stem or latch needs to be replaced. It's a common problem for ALL manual wind watches.

SOURCE: Match the year of my Rolex Explorer 1 from the serial number

I would expect Rolex to have a record of all their watches and if you contact your nearest dealer, they should be able to help you.

You can find a store guide on their web site "rolex.com"

Hello please help, I wish to know what year Rolex Oyster Perpetual Lady Date model 6519 was Manufactured. Thank you in advance.

This model Rolex has been manufactured over multiple years, and it is not possible to date your watch based purely on is model number. However, it is possible to date most Rolexes based on their serial numbers, which can be found stamped between the lower lugs (i.e., the lugs below 6:00 on the watch dial). You will need to remove the band from these lugs to read the serial number.

Dating the watch case of a Rolex does not necessarily date the entire watch. It is possible that a movement from another watch was placed into a watch case that is younger or older than the the movement. Like Rolex watch cases, Rolex movements can also be dated by their serial numbers, if this is a concern you have about this particular watch.

This jeweler has put together a nice summary of when Rolex watch models were introduced and which serial numbers are associated with specific years of manufacture. Once you have found your serial number, this should help you date your watch. I have no connection (financial or otherwise) with this web site, but I found the information useful and presented in an easy to understand way.

Where are the model number and serial number on a rolex

Thank you for contacting FixYa.
  • Look at the side of your watchcase. On the watchcase lugs, located where the watch bracelet is attached, you may see one small hole on each lug where the spring bar is located. This means your Rolex has the traditional pierced lug style. If your Rolex does not have the pierced lug style, turn the watch over, and look for the long spring bar in the space where the bracelet meets the watchcase. The spring bar attaches the bracelet to the watchcase. The directions for removing the spring bar on both watch styles is slightly different.

  • 2

Use your thumb to press down on the link where the band meets the watchcase if your Rolex has the pierced lug style.. If your Rolex does not have pierced lugs, turn the Rolex over, and press down on the link where the band meets the case. Either way, you are applying gentle pressure to the same link, just different sides of it. Remember, you are only removing the side of the band at the bottom of the watch, so press on the link below the 6. Maintain gentle pressure on the link while performing the next step.

  • 3

Insert the tip of your spring bar tool into the lug holes, and push the spring bar inward. When done correctly, you will feel the spring bar fall into the case, rather than pop back out. Repeat this step on the other side of the spring bar.

For a nonpierced lug watch, place the tip of your spring bar tool on one edge of the spring bar, and push inward, until the spring bar falls into the case. Repeat this step on the other side of the spring bar.

Pull the band gently away from the watchcase. It should remove easily. You can now see the serial number on the watchcase.

  • The reference or model number of a Rolex is located between the lugs at the 12' position. It is also listed on the certificates Rolex issues.

    Hope this helps. Jewel

I have a vintage Rolex with the serial # 2534788.Would like info on this watch. The face is black with the second hand located where the 6 should be. The name Rolex is written in white under the # 12.The...

This is a tough question. Rolex has always been very secretive of manufacturing information so there is no definitive list of "born on dates" The serial number 2534788 is most likely from 1969 or 1970. The problem is that I know of no Rolex from that time period that has the small seconds hand. The off-set seconds hand was a feature of pre WW2 watches. The case number on the inside of the case back would help in identifying the movement and being able to provide more information
