SOURCE: We have four computers, 3 Macs and a PC networked

You should update your printers firmware and reload both Mac and windows drivers for the same printer. I look at this as more of a driver problem. Firmware and drivers can be located here. If problem persists, try to approach this instance by using the elimination method. remove pc from network, test with only macs connected. then remove macs and test with only PC connected. then finnaly, install this printer directly to pc and test the performance and then directly on one of the macs and test.

Cm1312 keeps on initializing

If under warranty call HP. The formattor board has failed, this can be a jet direct connection issue, but the jet direct board is internal. If there is a slot in back to add an external jet direct board, try that first.

WIl not print correctly

If it is faded, it could be the transfer roller. I've had great success with simply periodically cleaning it, then getting a good printout. See my solution for this already posted: Check out this solution to the HP Color LaserJet CM1312nfi Laser Color...

Otherwise, the other issue I had late last year was that it needed a new intermediate transfer belt (part #RM1-4436-000CN). You can find a good deal on one, and the instructions for replacement are on page 156 in the service manual: http://www.feedroller.com/Store/Service%20Manual/HP-CLJ-CM1312-MFP-Manual.pdf
It's not the hardest replacement ever, but needs 2-3 hours depending on skill, and a little patience.

Good luck!

Faded print on the page, light on the right porgressively dark on the left.

I had this issue as well and parkerguy's transfer roller cleaning suggestion solved it! One point to mention though if you have the CM1312nfi MFP is that the transfer roller is attached to a cage on the back door of the printer. To remove the transfer roller, you do NOT need to remove the cage. Simply open the back door and locate the white plastic cap attached to the end of the transfer roller. You'll need to slightly pry up the white tab that extends down from that white cap in order to turn the cap clockwise to remove it. Once you've removed the white cap, follow the same process to remove the black cap from the other end. Once you have both the white and black caps off, simply slide the transfer roller toward the black cap end, ensuring to feed the pin through the hole so the pin at the white cap end comes out. Now the transfer roller is free and in-hand, ready for cleaning. Note that the transfer roller pins are shaped/sized differently to ensure the proper end is inserted into the proper hole, so you should note which end belongs on which side. To reinstall, simply reverse the process, sliding the appropriate transfer roller pin through the hole on the black cap end, then insert the other roller pin through the hole on the white cap end and reattach the caps, ensuring the tab on the cap is reseated properly. Close the back door and you should be in business!

Hp cm1312nfi printer problem error ready to download

The error is due to corrupt firmware and you need to reinstall it.
HP CM1312NFI Firmware Download & Instructions
Please visit the above link and Download the firmware.
"The HP Easy Firmware Upgrade utility provides the HP MFP firmware .rfu bundle and a user friendly method to transfer the .rfu file to the MFP all contained in a self-extracting executable for the Windows operating systems"

Please visit the above link and read all the instructions/ details and upgrade the firmware.
Process:
  1. Download the flash firmware updater file from HP.com to the PC desktop.
  2. Turn the printer off and then back on to clear main printer memory.
  3. Double click on the flash firmware update utility file. An HP firmware update window will open.
  4. Select the appropriate MFP in the dialog window. If you assigned a different name to the HP MFP, choose the name that represents the correct printer.
  5. Click on "Send Firmware" when ready to proceed.
  6. The progress bar will begin to move to the right indicating information being transferred.
  7. DO NOT power cycle the product or the pc during this process or the product may become unstable and or unusable without further attention from HP. The flash firmware update can take up to 5 minutes to complete. Please be patient.
  8. During the product flash firmware update, the display on the product control panel will display "Erasing - Programming - Complete - Hewlett-Packard - Ready - Initializing - Ready". Once the download is finished the printer will be in the Ready state.
  9. At the conclusion of the firmware update, the dialog window will show a smiley face. Click on exit.
  10. The flash firmware update process is complete.
Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

HP cm1312nfi control-panel display WHITE, it still...

Try doing a hard or reset or nvram:
1. Turn the printer off, disconnect the phone line
2. Hold down the right arrow and the cancel button
3. Reboot the printer while holding the buttons and hold until permanent storage is displayed. Let go of the buttons and wait for the ready message on the display.

If the lcd does not display anything contact hp or a local service provider as there is a definite power failure.

Replacing Cartridges on the HP Color Laserjet CM1312nfi

Yes, you will replace the whole cartridge. Open the front door and pull out the cartridge drawer. Grab the handle for the magenta and pull it straight up. There should be directions in the box.
