Absolutely the capacitor issue would make it run backwards. The purpose of the capacitor is to give the motor a high amperage jolt boost to get it turning in the right direction when you turn it on. It sounds like yours has a Start Capacitor and a Run Capacitor. Change them both. If one has failed, the other will soon follow.

the girl in the chat box can help u instantly

discuss this with the retailer as it indicates it is not new and I imagine you bought it as in the original boxnew

google bosch and ask for a manual or if you are lucky most manuals are on line just takes a bit of time searching

it's overheated, after you turn on the shredder, is it working?
if not, that means your shredder's motor is death.
need to buy a new shredder.

Chances are there is a branch wedged in the blade assembly. Are you able to pull the starter cord? if not, you'll have to remove the housing that covers the blades and remove the blockage.

When you expose the blade use a bar to reverse the blade and release the tension, If it was blocked it should start up right away.
