Regarding your HP Officjet Pro 8600 printer and refilled HP 950/951 ink cartridges and the "low ink" messages. Depending on your ink refiller (or if you did it yourself?), a replacement chip may or may not have been installed with the recently refilled cartridge(s). Refer to picture on our support site to first determine which type of cartridge configuration you have, then refer to the applicable section to address the current cartridge error(s) or printer issues. http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1999
NOTE: Costco USA's Ink Refill service now 'chips' all refilled ink cartridges which fully restores all functions to that of a regular HP (OEM) ink cartridge and customer experience. For USA ink refill store locations and details on ink refill pricing:
Refer to Section A if your refiller attached a new replacement chip (green in color) onto the cartridge. Refer to Section B if only the original HP chip is attached.
----
CAUTION: Be advised, the use of compatible/clone cartridges (i.e. sold thru the internet from China) are known to be problematic and may cause printer errors and/or permanent PRINTHEAD failures (due to incompatible ink formulations). We do NOT suggest refilling these types of ink cartridges.....refilling of original/genuine ink cartridges is only suggested! HP original/genuine ink cartridges can be identified by the visible HP logo on the front label of the cartridge.
That message is indicating that there is a problem with the cartridge alignment.
From HP:There are several reasons why the HP All-in-One may
fail to align the cartridges. The most common reason is an ink cartridge that
has one of the following problems:
One of the ink cartridges is low or out of ink.
Black and all three colors must be available.
The paper has already been printed on or is colored
paper.
Protective tape on a new ink cartridge has not been
removed.
Contacts on the ink cartridge are not meeting the
contacts in the carriage correctly.
Cartridge is remanufactured or refilled. Refilled
or remanufactured ink cartridges may have been damaged during the refilling
process or have clogged ink nozzles.
The ink cartridge is defective.
Also, use a fresh piece of paper that has never been printed on for the alignment
process or the alignment will fail.
ink don't leak when the pressure equalizes (inside against outside pressure) ... anyway to make things simple, if you are using a syringe for refilling, **** back a small amont of ink untl leak stops.
