Is the computer plugged in to a known good power source with a known good power cord? Also, make sure the power is fully seated on both ends. When you press the power button are you getting any indicator lights? The power button itself has an LED that will be either solid green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber, or off. Do you hear any beeps?

SOURCE: my dell dimension 2400 beeps morse code like and won't load

you have to follow the beeps very well to understand wat is the problem, each type of beep gives you sign for problem. so check if its one beep, two, or three, short or long, this makes very easy to you to define the problem.
Try to take out that parallel port if your pc works fine, this means this connector was not compitable to your board.

SOURCE: my dell dimension 2400 will not boot up. It goes

This can usually be solved by resetting the CMOS.
Unplug the power from the back of the tower. Open the side of your case and locate the round battery near the lower-right side of the main board. Pop the battery out. Just below it you should see 2 little gold colored pins sticking up. Right around it it should say 'Clear CMOS' in very fine print. Take a small screwdriver and hold it to the two pins so they are shorted or touching each other through the screwdriver for a few seconds. Place the battery back in the machine and see if this works.

You have noticed what is written, not always what happens.

If you are able too run, through setup, click on help &support.

Search box, type in Safe Mode. Follow instructions.

F8 is the key, when starting up keep clicking the key as the poota wakes up, it should give you a choice menu for you access up/down with arrow keys?

My dell inspiron 2400 pc will not start up

If the power light doesn't come on at all, it could be the power supply is dead, or the power switch is defective.

Check to make sure the power cord and power supply cables are securely connected.

Here are some diagnostic tools for DELL computers.

My dell inspiron 2400 won`t come on .it does not show anything on screen.

You first need to check the screen is working, disconnect the VGA/DVI cable from the monitor, then turn it on do you get anything on screen at all?

If that works reconnect the cable and turn it on, now boot the PC, do you see anything at all on the monitor?

No then check the cable/swop with new one or check the graphics card.

Yes but goes off after a few seconds, reboot and press the F8 key as soon as you hear the first beep, this should bring up a start menu, try safe mode, if that works load and windows it might be the graphics driver (has this been updated?) if yes try roll back to previous driver or you could even try system restore back to a date you know it all worked.

I have a Dell 530s Desktop. When I turned it on I get a Dell splash screen then it goes black. I can not even get anything to work thru the USB outlet. What could cause this

Hi,

Have you check the BIOS if the harddrive is detected? You may want to use a working harddrive and check if harddrive cable is not loose or you can try to boot to a bootable disc just to isolate the issue.

Hope this helps.

Won' start up properly

Hello, you might be having an issue with a Peripheral Device in the computer, conflicting with it to boot up, please disconnect any USB devices, port replicators, or printers/scanner on the serial ports, if this solves the issue and you're able to access your computer, please reinstall the drivers for those devices, you can test each one of them to see wich one is the troublemaker.
Additionally if you don't have any peripherals connected, then please try to boot up in safe mode, to do so, please restart the computer, then when you see the Dell Logo, press the F8 key at start up, then please chose the safe mode option, and press enter. If you are able to enter safe mode, then please press the keys [Windows] + [R] and in the screen that pops up, type "msconfig", without quotes, go to the Startup tap and select, disable all. Afterwars restart the computer and let us know if it worked.

Booting

Try removing the memory and the reinserting the memory. The problem sounds like you might have a bad motherboard, but I would try and remove the memory and fix it that way. Or you can get into bios F1 and see if it is recognizing your HD, or stick the installation disk in the computer and see if you can get anything to boot that way. If the computer boots from the CD replace the hard drive

Can't get pass the background screen when pc load

The sequence is:
a) The Dell bios splash screen is displayed,
b) the screen will go black,
c) the disk activity light will flash for about 5 - 7 seconds, then will remain off.
d) you force a power off,
e) wait a few seconds,
f) then turn the machine back on.
g) The bios splash screen is displayed,
h) then a black screen with white text is displayed, reporting that Windows was not shut down nicely and would I like to boot into safe mode or safe mode with networking, or others.
g1) If you choose Safe Mode, Windows will boot up successfully. If I restart, the computer will usually (probably) boot into Windows fine.
g2) If you choose Boot Normally, the computer will usually (probably) enter the black and hung state.
see if that helps and the if possible do a do a system restore to when the system was working correctly.
