Scan says all channels locked out

Please try this,

If the scanner's display locks up or does not work properly after you connect a power source, you might need to reset or initialize it. If you have problems with the scanner, first try to reset it to retain the memory. Warning: Initializing the scanner will clear all channel memories and reverts it the state it was in right out of the box.To Initialize the scanner, turn off the scanner then turn it back on. Press 0 when the welcome screen appears. 'Please select factory tests. Exit if no key is pressed' will briefly appear. Then quickly press 1. 'Initialization clear all memory Enter to confirm Clear to exit' will briefly appear. Quickly press ENT to initialize. 'Initializing, Please stand by' then appears. Do not turn off the scanner while it is initializing. The display should then show M000 on the top line and Bank 0 CH 00 when finished.

Hope that helps!!

Can,t get scanner off all channels locked mode

Please try this!!
You may need a soft or hard reset. Here's some reading and instructions.
Please use this first!
resetting your scanner
1. Turn off your scanner, and then turn it on again.

2. Insert a pointed object into the reset hole on the back
of the scanner. Then, gently press and release the reset
button. Pressing reset does not clear the scanner's
working memory or the V-Scanner folders.

If this doesn't work here's step two! CAUTION. THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING, but it MAY Fix the Problem!!

Initializing your scanner clears all information stored in your
scanner's working memory. Initialize your scanner only when
you are sure it is not working properly. V-Scanner memory is
not affected when you initialize the scanner.

1. Turn off the scanner, and turn it on again. First, the DSP
boot version, and then Welcome To Digital Trunking appears.

2. Press 0. The following messages appear on the display:

System Tests

Select Test
Exits if no
Key Press

3. Press 1. The following messages appear on the display:

Factory Init
Erase Memory
ENTER if Yes
CL to EXIT

4. Press ENT. The following messages appear on the display:

Initializing
Clr Main Mem
V-Scan is OK
Please Wait

5. Do not turn off your scanner until the initialization is
complete. When the initialization is complete, M000 and
Bank 0 Ch 00 appear on the display.

Hope this works.. Happy Scanning

HP 4500...when trying to scan, or make a copy, screen displays "Scanner Failure" and will not work. Please help.

The "Scanner Failure" message appears when the scanner unit doesn't responds to the commands from the printer's processor. This is a major hardware failure - the scanner unit is effectively dead.
Replacing the failed scanner unit with a new one would cost more than a new All-in-One so either use the printer as is (just as a simple printer) or sell it for parts and get a new one.

I have a surround sound Zenith model # ZHX313 (vcr, dvd and turner). I turned on the progressive scanner while in menu but now I can't turn it off. I've tried unplugging and also tried holding down the stop...

Hi there,

It's unlikely that you've broken it - you appear to be using the wrong method for switching it off.

Correct instructions for turning Progressive (P) Scan off:

1. Remove any disc from the unit and close the disc tray.
2. Wait for the "NO DISC" message to appear on the display
3. Press and hold the "STOP" button on the front of the unit for at least 5 seconds then release.

The video output should return to the normal setting and "P/SCAN" should disappear from the display on the front of the player.

If you are still unable to switch P/SCAN off, please post back for further assistance.

BElectric

Am I able to scan a frequency band? for instance scan between frequency 150.200mhz and 160.200mhz? how would I do it?

Oddly, your scanner does not include this feature - which is standard on nearly all scanners. It does, however, let you search pre-programmed services (police, marine, etc.) or search up or down from a designated frequency. To do the latter:

1. Repeatedly press SCAN/MAN until MAN appears.
2. Enter the desired channel number you want to use as a starting point for the tune. Then press SCAN/MAN again.
3. Press TUNE/CLEAR to start tune. PGM appears.
4. Hold down the up or down arrow for about 1 second to tune up or down. The arrow appears and the scanner searches in the specified direction.
5. When the scanner finds an active frequency, it stops searching and displays the frequency.
6. To search for another active frequency, hold down
the up or down arrow for about 1 second.
