SOURCE: recovering password or reseting

Well the failsafe way to do that is to remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard. But that involves opening the case to the laptop and finding/removing it.

Opening a laptop is certainly not an easy thing to do, however.

Another option is to find your model number, go to the SONY website and find the manual. There may be instructions in the manual on how to clear the CMOS password.

Also, there is sometimes a RESET button on the bottom of laptops. (It'll usually require a paperclip to activate it.) If your laptop has that, then it'll most likely clear the CMOS password.

Good luck.

SOURCE: passwords have me locked out

Your Computer is shipped with the Recovery partition, a hidden partition in the Computer. You can use the Recovery partition to reinstall the preinstalled Operating System, Applications and the Drivers. Please note that performing a System Recovery will delete all the data from the Computer and restores the Computer back to the factory settings. However, you can backup the important data using the Rescue Data feature available in the Recovery Center (Recovery partition). Let me provide the complete details to backup the data and to perform the System Recovery.

  • Please restart the Computer and press the F10 when the VAIO logo appears to access the Recovery Center.
  • Please select Rescue Data option to backup the important data.
  • You can save all the data present in the C Drive by selecting Automatic Rescue Data option and you can backup the individual data or folder be selecting Custom Rescue Date option.
  • You can copy data from the hard disk to an external hard drive, external flash media drive, recordable Blu-ray Disc, DVD or CD.
  • Once the Rescue Data option is done, please select Restore C Drive option in the Recovery Center to restore the Computer back to the factory settings.
  • This should resolve the issue.
  • You can view the steps mentioned in link below

Please let me know if this does not work.

Good Luck!!!

How do i prevent a forgotten password on the administrative without a reset disk

Hi that_1red_bo,

I think you can create a reset disc using a USB flash drive incase you forget your password you can use that USB to reset your password for your machine with out having to reinstall windows all over again on the issue.

  • Turn your computer ON and log into Windows 7
  • Insert a USB flash drive into your computer any size would do fine, this will only take a small portion for the reset disc and can still be used for saving other files on the USB.
  • Click Start, Control Panel, User Accounts and Family Safety, User Accounts, Create a password reset disk.
this should create a USB reset Disc for you windows, and still let you use your Flash drive to save files that you will carry anywhere that you need access to.

I hope this will be Helpful to your quetion.

thanks.
