SOURCE: brad nailer not firing nail...can hear brief air noise upon pulling the trigger

Porter cable makes a number of brad nailers (18 gauge) that very quickly suffer from the problem that you are having. You did not mention the model number of your gun but if it is one of these, (bn125a, bn200a, ns100a) kit # 60061 will fix the problem. It costs between 25 and 30 dollars. Google that part number or order from www.dewalt.com. Dewalt owns the porter cable brand. Before you order the kit, check that the driver blade is not bent and stuck. The driver should travel freely down the cylinder. When you install parts, use Danco silicone grease to lube (availabel at Lowes in the plumbing department) If your model # is different from those mentioned above, please email me and I will recommend a repair.

SOURCE: nail gun wont fire

First - the air pressure has to be high enough - check the regulator on the tank to make sure it is delivering in excess of 60-70 psi (which I am sure you have already done).

If you have dry fired these guns (i.e. shot them off with no nails in them while you were lubricating them maybe) the mechanism inside could be damaged. I had that happen to one of my nailers (same brand). That was when I learned not to dry fire them...

Since both of them are not working though I would be more inclined to look at the air supply first.

SOURCE: My Sears Craftsman 18 gauge brad nailer won't nail

Your driver is not returning. Depending on the model that you have there could be a couple of problems. The most likely is that your piston stop is crumbled and some of your seals are worn or damaged. Whether or not you can fix the nailer depends on if the parts are available from Sears Parts Dept. If you would like some more information about fixing your nailer please post which model it is that you are trying to fix and I can see if the parts are available. I will post the information back to you.

SOURCE: My brad nailer will not shoot any nails. When I

it sounds like the piston/driver might be stuck or the firing valve is malfunctioning. there are 4 screws to remove the top cap and you can see if the driver is damaged. Also before removing check to make sure there is not a nail jammed in the nose assembly. This tool is good for breaking the pin on the piston.

SOURCE: my mastercraft electric brad nailer stapler wont

Look for a jam in the gun.Sounds like a brad is "hung up" in it, probably right at point where it feeds into the mouth of the firing point. Be sure you unplug it before you do this.

Does the brad nailer only use 2" brads or cam smaller nails be used also

Most nail guns are labeled with the longest nail/brad they can shoot but are capable of shooting shorter nails/brads. There should be a data sticker on the gun, usually on the magazine rail, or at least in the manual that tells you what pressure to operate the gun at, what guage brads the gun can shoot and the size of brads from shortest to longest it can handle.

My brad nailer stop nailing! It makes the noise as if it was nailing, just not as loud or hard.

Make sure that you don't have a jammed brad in the nailing head. Are you using air-tool-oil fed through the air coupler on a regular basis? Hope this helps!

My Brad sudddenly stopped working. Makes a Psft

If you've not already tried applying air motor oil to the gun than you should do this first. If this does not solve your problem than it's very possible that your main diaphram is worn or poruse. Thank you, Dana

Strip and clean the whole diaphragm and spring arrangement. Also check whether a bad nail hasn't damaged the piston guide and caused it to jam when on return stroke.
