If the BIOS is set to AUTO and it's reporting that it can't find it most likely cause is because the HDD has died. You should try opening the case and reseating the HDD to it's connectors to see if that helps. Have to opened or changed anything in the computer before this happened? If reseating the HDD doesn't help, it's time to go and buy another HDD.

ID FROZEN ON MY ACER ASPIRE V5-471. I NEVER PUT A HDD PASSWORD IN IT WHEN I BOUGHT THE LAPTOP 4 YEARS AGO.HOW CAN I FIX THAT.

Does it makes any kind of sound when you boot? Is the HDD frozen or is it password protected? If it makes a clicking sound when you boot the computer then the HDD pointer inside the HDD is stuck.
If you can get to the BIOS, you can delete any password from the BIOS. If the HDD does not shows up in the BIOS, then your HDD is probably fry.

System does not go ahead after bios setup

Possible HDD fault, try taking out the HDD and or the DVD drive as these can make the unit hang showing a possible fault, also try booting from a bootable cd or flash stick if the unit boots beyond the bios post even if it shows an error then i would say the HDD/DVD is faulty.

Did the problem start after you updated to bios 0229? You might try reinstalling bios 0229 or going back to 0228. Make sure that you SATA is enabled and your drive is hookedup to SATA1

Samsung R65 HDD not detected in bios

Chances are that your HDD is on it's way out the door; even if you get it to come up on another computers via USB adapter. There could be issues with your motherboard, but a faulty HDD is more likely. The only way to be sure is to put another HDD into your computer to see if it shows up or not. If it shows up, then that pretty much affirms that your current HDD is going bad. See MADHATTER COMPUTERS.

Acer aspire 5310 : did not find any hard disk while xp set up

Try with another fresh XP disc. Check your Bios if it shows hard disc. If bios show the HDD than its problem with your installation CD. If bios does not show HDD than check your HDD power and IDE cable. Replace IDE cable to diognose. If this does not solve, replace HDD.
