Hotpoint FFA47X fridge/freezer.

I have had this fridge for 3 years now and has always on regular occasions decided to defrost when it feels like it and asks me to consume all the food immediately! I have wasted massive amounts of money on food and calls to hotpoint and have had a hotpoint engineer out to sort the problem about a year ago. It goes fine for a few months..then it defrosts all over again! Its just done it again, luckily I am not using the freezer anymore it only had some peas in there. Has anyone had this problem and solved it?? I would really like to use my freezer again but am loosing patience with hotpoint! I'd be very grateful for some advice.

Can you hear the compressor running? Is the fan inside the freezer running? It could be that a wire connection has come loose during the move. Was the fridge laid on it's side during the move? If so you probably have compressor oil restricting the refrigerant system. If compressor and fan are running you will probably need a qualified refrigeration tech to check it out.

Adjust the temperature control for the freezer to a normal setting. Fast freeze is only for when new products are put in that need to be frozen. This locks the system into a continuous run mode and could be responsible for the freezing condition in the refrigerator section. Check the temperatures with a thermometer as the sensor for the freezer temperature could be bad causing the light to come on.

This will work in most all cases of this type. You need a piece of copper wire, 14 guage, 12 to 16 inches. You can shortin it as you need to Turnoff the power to the fridge. Rap one end of the wire around the evaprorator heater and feed the othe end down the drain tube. This wire will heat up when the heater comes on and will supply heat down into the drain tube hopefully preventing the drain from freezing.

My Hotpoint FSFL 1810G fridge compartment has stopped working

It is not going into a defrost cycle and you have ice build up between freezer supply vent it frig side. It could be a defrost timer, defrost termination switch or defrost heater problem.

Hotpoint rla31 motor constantly running/freezing at the back

Your fridge is cooled by the freezer, the thermostat is within the Fridge to tell it to shut off, you might have a bad fan or a build up of frost where the air is sent to the fridge, check where air goes to the fridge when it's running, if you don't feel air flow then something is up, best thing you can do is take everything out and allow the fridge to defrost, at leat 24hrs. then see what happens, if you don't feel air flow after the defrost then you fan is shot and you'll need to replace it.

There should be a defrost timer built into the fridge, every fridge has them. This may need replacing.

Have a hotpoint FFA97 fridge freezer the freezer is ok but the fridge is not getting cold but still says 2degrees on the display

This model is one of the worst that Hotpoint has made in their history.
I got mine and the first time it failed 11 months after bought.  Call out warranty, technician arrive and replace main controller board.  Six months later, failed again.  Defrost it and started working.  A year later it failed again, the recirculation duct from the freedge to the freezer, gets blocked by ice.  There is something wrong with the defrost system.  My next move before buying a new one will be to replace the defrost switch.

Not recommend to anybody.

Freezer not working

there is a defrost fault - quite common with these hotpoint. fault could lie with the module or stats associated with defrost or possibly the heater itself. most probable is the module but impossible to localize by remote control. water drains away thro a hole in the centre of the tray underneath the evaporator
