I have a Sony Trinitron 35" television, model KV-32FS100 CHASIS BA50. When the television is turned off it takes 2 to 3 weeks to power back on. there is a red light that blinks and stops. what can

My television is beyond the warranty so i cannot get free service. when the television comes on the picture is clean and clear. if i do not turn it off it works without any problem, but the moment it comes off it takes two to three weeks to come back on as long as i leave it on constantly. i would like to try to repair it myself as i consider myself as a fix-it-woman and if i get instructions i believe that i can fix anything.

I have over 10 years experience in electronic tech support.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described can't be fixed with
troubleshooting. Your TV will have to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you purchased an extended service plan they will repair the TV at no charge as well.

If the TV is no longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and labor. This is assuming that you only need one
circuit board or small part. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards, the price of repair could go much higher.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Digital tuner?

Good question, Mike. I wondered about my fs210 model, too, and I found the answer at a Sony tech-support site.

1. Go to: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/select-system.pl?DIRECTOR=DOCS
2. Enter your TV's model number, which, in this case, is: kv-32fs100 (and then click on Continue).
3. At the resulting page, under "Support by Type" in the left margin, click on "News & Alerts."
4. At the next page, click on: 04/02/2008: Critical: Is my Sony® television ready for the Digital TV (DTV) transition?
5. Your TV and mine are analog, but scroll down the page mentioned in #4, above, to see all of your options.

Consumers can determine whether any Sony TV is digital, just by entering the model number and following the steps listed above. ~ Kind regards, Gilda M. (replied 1/23/09)

Sony FD Trinitron Wega model KV-34BR800

Sony Wega Triniton KV-32FS100 TV

For the last week my TV has been going to a black screen for 10 seconds or so then the picture returns. It has been continual. Last night it stopped going to black screen, but now the standby light flashes 5 consecutive times and the color went haywire. A lot of red and everything that is suppose to be black is green.

I did a soft and hard reset with no success. What's wrong and is it worth fixing? Bought new in November 2002.

That would depend upon the number of blinks and the specific model number. I am guessing that the model number is KV-32FS100. What is the blink count?
