After getting a Terk Indoor Antenna OMNITV3A and an RCA Digital Converter Box DTA800B1 and not being able to get the menu or setup to work I then also got an RCA universal remote RCT 3273R and tried all the 7 listed code numbers to no avail - maybe cause I may not be doing it right but so far just get snow and a Mexican menu with 5 or 6 options. How can I get something other than snow? Rabbit ears work fine on a smaller tv that I have in the next room.

SOURCE: Digital Converter Box

# 1. Why are you using a digital to anaolg box when you only have a analog signal coming in? The box is designed to see digital information then converting it back to analog. Please explain further what you are attemping to do?

SOURCE: Rabbit ears to digital conversion box

A long time ago I used to see adapters that would allow a 75 ohm to 300 ohm connection for the older TV sets. These may not be easy to find anymore.

Considering all things practical and the age of the set, there comes a time when it is the time to get a new set! At least the new set will be compatible and you will be able to enjoy a better quality of performance.

SOURCE: rabbit ears to digital conversion box

Your TV is old enough to have not only screw terminals for the antenna, but it sounds like it has separate UHF and VHF terminals as well. Pick up a 75-ohm to 300-ohm adapter (available at Radio Shack and probably most other places that sell TV's and antennas). This is a small cylinder-shaped part with a threaded antenna connector on one end, and a flat wire with two terminals on the other end. Connect the cable from the converter box to the round connector, hook the two terminals to the VHF antenna screws on your TV, put the TV on channel 3 and you'll be set.

You should also pick up a new antenna designed to work with digital broadcasting. If you use the old rabbit ears you were using before, you will probably not pick up all the channels available in your area.

SOURCE: GE remote control universal remote I need to know the code to the Dolby converter box for it please

Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. The site has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. The site has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Set-up code list to many brand remote controls also is given. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

Programming Notes
• If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list, use the Auto Code Search method to program your remote.
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.
This is a trial and error procedure; and quiet time consuming. You might have to check different codes said for your device.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; to which you want set-up codes; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window" to get gathered related posts.

I have an rca converter box model number DTA800B1. I unpluggd it briefly and now don't have the code toprogram it

DirectTV remote model Rc64 will control the RCA model DTA8001B1 digital receiver. Set the remote's switch to unused AV1 or AV2 position, simultaneously press and hold mute and select buttons until indicator gives a double flash and immediately enter code number 00392 after which the indicator will double flash in acceptance. Works menu and it's navigation, channel up and down, and numerical keypad.

Have an rca digital converter box model dta800b1 and a phillips universal remote can i program it so my box get the channels

Find the user guide for your universal remote and use the RCA cable tv/satellite codes, and one should work for your RCA DTA800B1 converter box. My Sharp Aquos remote liked the RCA satellite code.

Can this tv pick up the new digital off air signals? i just bought an indoor digital antenna and no channels will come in. do i need a converter box?

You need a digital box. If the TV is connected to the Digital Box & you have it setup correctly you should be able to get Digital channels. An internal antenna is not the best idea unless you are in a good reception area.

Insignia digital tv converter/indoor antenna no signal

Ok first I can save you some money. Take your "HDTV" antenna back. There is nothing different about the antennas needed receive analog and digital signals. If you got reception without your converter box, use the same antenna with your converter box.

Next let's see if there is a problem with the box. Hook up a television with the antenna. How many stations do you get? Now hook up the same television & antenna, but this time put the converter box between the antenna & the TV. Do not turn on the box. Now how many stations do you get? If the number is different, the box is not allowing the antenna signal to pass through. That is bad. You want your signal to pass through the box so you can still pick up stations that don't broadcast digitally. Some areas of the country will not be covered by digital stations from all major broadcasters when the changeover happens in Feb.

My suspicion is either you did not have the antenna hooked up to the converter box when you searched for channels OR you are in an area that is not yet broadcasting digitally.

I hope this helps you solve your problem. Thank you for using FixYa and feel free to add more questions here by using comments.

Insignia Digital to analog converter menu doesn't come up

When my Menu did not come up, I found it on the AUX channel (one below channel 3). I was able to go through the set up, but found only one digital channel available. Hope this helps!
