Blackberry storm screen will not display any icons

Recently i upgrated my BB storm and today my display will not go on, it stays in black... what can I do???

Hi,

The easiest thing to do is to take it to the manufacturer because the phone is still under warranty, but, if you want to repair it your self, follow the step below.

The issue you describe appears to be corruption of one or more system files within the BlackBerry OS. A forced update should restore your BB to working condition, but there is the risk that you may lose your data. If that is a problem, do not proceed.
If you wish to restore the BB, please continue below after verifying that you have the following:
A. Computer (Windows) B. BlackBerry Desktop Manager software (BlackBerry.com) C. Latest version of the BlackBerry OS for your make/model BB

To get the OS, simply log on to your carriers website and download the latest version of the OS for your BB. Once the file is saved to your computer, you need to install the setup files just like you would any other program. When completed, proceed to step.

1. Open BB Desktop Manager 2. Remove the battery cover, battery and micro SD card (if you have one) from your BlackBerry. 3. Connect the BB to your computer via USB cable (without the battery in place, just the phone's shell). 4. There should be a few drivers that will load automatically and the BB Desktop Manager will recognize your BB. 5. Close the BB Desktop Manager once it has been detected. 6. Go to the following path. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\App-loader 7. Double-click the "App-loader.exec" application 8. Once it loads, the application will detect your BB and proceed to update your BlackBerry's OS. 9. If you are prompted to backup your BB data, please do so. If not, then proceed to step #10. 10. Select wipe (or secure wipe) to completely remove the existing OS and data.

A fresh, updated version of the BlackBerry OS will be installed on your BB. The process takes about 35-90 minutes to complete. Once done, the BB will automatically reboot and if you had an existing backup or created one before wiping/installing, you can now reopen the BB Desktop Manager and restore your backup to the BB.


As a side note, the BlackBerry Storm 9xxx series has been known to have many flaws. The Storm2 fixed many issues, but still left a lot behind.

If the problem persists after the update, check to see if you still have coverage under the manufacturer's 1yr warranty or if you pay for insurance service, your BB maybe covered under service replacement.

My bb storm will not reboot. It has a black screen and the red light starts to flash slowly.

Your Blackberry probably just needs a firmware restore. Here's a guide on how to restore the blackberry firmware, the website is at : Restore Blackberry to factory settings. Download the Blackberry Desktop manager and run the application loader. If it asks you for a password, you can enter it 10x wrong and that will wipe the blackberry as well.

Bb 9530 work well but screen does'nt work i have change the new screen but the problem still persist i have install os 4.7.0.148 the problem with my screen is black

If the problem persist even after changing the display then issue may be with the strip(which connects the display screen and the board).

My bb storm screen went blank after a download but can still receive calls

To perform a clean installation of the BlackBerry Device Software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.1 to 4.3, complete the steps 1-5 above and then proceed with the following:
1) Click Advanced , and then select the check boxes beside Erase all
application data and Erase all currently installed applications
2) Click Next.
3) Select the check box next to Do not automatically backup the
application data during the loading process (if prompted).
4) Clear the check box next to Backup and restore applications
installed wirelessly (if prompted).
5) Click Next > Finish.

Random rebotoing - white screen with clock

The BB Storm is plauged with these problems unfortunately due to insufficient hardware & buggy software.

How to get browser for a blackberry storm with at&t

You should be able to get the missing service book. Logon to the BIS, it is a website of your carrier where you set up your BB email. There you can resend all the service books.
If you have never been there, call the carrier to have them do it for you. They will still send them even if the BB is unlocked and you have a ATT account.

When click bb button my options buttom doesn work

If you are at the home screen and the phone is unlocked, press the "blackberry" key, next to the green answer button. The on screen menu should show "options". If you click on this, nothing happens? If it does pop up with the next window, the row adjustments are in the middle of this screen under "Set Homescreen Layout". Once you have selected this, be sure to press the blackberry button again and save your selection.

Blackberry storm icon I can not delete

There's a reason you cannot delete it, as the icon is hardwired into the system, though you can choose not to display it on the desktop of your phone by reconfiguring those icons you wish to display

Email messages do not appear in inbox on Blackberry Storm

Dear Vbcarroll,

on your blackberry go in main menu- options- advance options- default services. if you have enterprise mail account setup with personal mail account, it can be the case that at the moment it is showing as desktop services but when you are in there click on main menu and change options to other mailbox which is in your case personal mail account.

that way in inbox you will receive both emails and you can see all together.

but as far as i know, I haven't setup personal account on my blackberry but i believe within main menu you get created another icon like mobile mailbox and where your personal mailbox emails are coming in. if option one doesn't work then please try to look for this new created icon within main menu.

update me if none of them are working or any other problem.

Black/ Blue Lines on my BB Storm

Try to do a full restore and a actualizing..!
If it doesnt solve it, the problem is with the phone so its something technical.
