1996 750 katana suzuki how to set floats?

- Now days some carburetors are produced which are fixed and no adjustment is provided. The float is made up of whole plastic like material.
Some floats have the copper/metal notch for the adjustment of fuel level.
- Take the carburetor assembly out.
- Remove the fuel bowls.
- Place the carburetor assembly with the floats upward towards yourself.
- Float level gauge and active data list (taken from the workshop manual) is required to carry out the adjustment. But you can simply adjust the float level correctly without any gauge.
- Hold the carburetor assembly at your eye level in such a way that the carburetor No. 1 is in front of you. Behind is No. 2 carburetor, then behind is No. 3 and then the No. 4. Or we can say that the carburetor No. 1 hides the carburetors 2, 3, and 4.
- Examine carefully the floats of all the individual carburetors be parallel to the surface of the carburetor where the float bowl face is seated and tightened.
- Adjust the float level by bending the float notch towards the needle valve (to decrease the float level and to raise the float) or away from the needle valve to increase the float level (to lower the float).

How to adjust carb float level ?

Carbs off and upside down measure the distance between the top of the float and the part of the carb where the float bowl gasket goes ,with the gasket off.there will be measurement in the manual and it will be plus or minus a millimetre.you adjust it by bending the metal tag that pushes on the float needle that's joined to the float , unless it's made of plastic then it can't be adjusted.

How do I adjust FLOAT VALVE in a Kohler San Martine toilet tank ?

On the fill valve float there will be either a plastic screw or a metal bar with a metal slide clip on it. If its a screw, use a screwdriver to turn it cw or ccw to adjust water level. If its a clip, compress the clip between your thumb and forefinger and slide it up or down along the bar to set the float level. You need to test it after adjusting. Level should be 1/2" below top of overflow tube.

Water level is set too high and runs over the overflow. how can i adjust the water level in the tank?

Inside the tank, on a lever arm there should be a cylindrical float that rises and lowers with the water level. Attached to the float is a float rod with a clip that can slide up and down the rod. You can adjust the water level by sliding the clip down to reduce the amount of water entering the tank. As the water fills the tank, the float rises, pushing up the float rod, which in turn pushes up the level that controls the valve allowing water to enter the toilet.

Does the spring loaded screw on the carburetor bowl on the 15hp liquid cooled engine adjust the float level?

No. A metal float is adjusted by slightly bending the small metal tangs on the float that hold the retaining pin as it hangs from the main carburetor body . If you feel the need to adjust the level of the float, your normal setting is with the float "level" in relation to the lower carburetor body. That is in it's raised position when it has sealed the fuel inlet by pushing the float needle all the way into it's seat; thus shutting off fuel flow into the bowl.

at the top of the float you will see a cross-headed plastic bolt; this is adjusted for fine level control using a large conventional philips screwdriver.

It sounds like during the rebuild the float level some how was changed to a higher setting. There is a tab on the float that needs to be bent in order to change when the float valve actually closes. Seems your float valve adjustment is allowing the carb fuel level to be too high which will create the exact symptom that you described.
If the level is fine then there can be a small piece of debris in the float valve seat.
Also.. if the float itself has filled with fuel it can be too heavy to float and cause the float level position to remain low even when the carb is full not allowing the fuel supply to be shut off. If the new o-ring for the float valve was cut during installation it can also cause your current symptom.
At this point I just think that a float level adjustment is all that should be required.
with the float bowl screws loose the bowl should never overflow in a static condition. If it does the float level adjustment is off.

Thanks for using FixYa.
