I have a Panasonic KX-TG4031 system w/ 4 phones. When I try to call (all phones are in pulse mode) after inputting the number I hear the dial tone again. After several seconds I hear an automated message telling me I have exceeded the alloted time limit, Furthermore when I am receiving a call there is static and is difficult to hear even with volumn up. If I switch all phones to pulse mode I am able to call and receive however much static and low volumn output. All batteries are charged, I have done the "long reset" for 1/2 hour i,e, batteries out, base unit disconnected and unplugged, How to I fix ?? Other 'hard line' phones work fine. The phone company says my system is good.

SOURCE: Almost constantly gives "no link to base" message

I had this problem too. I popped the battery out, waited 1 minute then put it back in. Unfortunately this clears the memory of all recent calls, etc. but it immediately started working again. So far its only happened once...

Change dial mode to TONE !

Dialing mode If you cannot make calls, change this setting according to your telephone line service. The default setting is "Tone". "Tone": For tone dial service. DO NOT set to "Pulse":

Select the desired setting. which is

Changing from pulse to tone panasonic phone

Touch the following keys: Menu 0 5 1 and then select 1 (tone, the factory default) or 2. Then Save (a softkey with the label in the LCD screen) and Off (opposite Talk on the keypad).

The manual for the Panasonic KX-TG5664 is available from Panasonic here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/KXTG5664.PDF . See page 17 for setting the Dialing mode.

I hope this helps.

My KX-T7030 phone will not send a tone during a call, so I cannot "Press 1" or any number to use automated options. It does dial numbers ok??

If it dials O.K., try pressing # and see if it turns on the DTMF pad. You could have pulse dial on outside calls enabled, and that would keep the keypad in pulse mode until it's told to send tones.

This is really only a guess. The type of dialing is programmed in CO trunks and it's possible it's been set to Call Blocking! It is designed to send pulse only and block the audio of DTMF so the CO won't get confused. You might start with changing the Type Dial to DTMF and test. If that doesn't work, try Pulse and test. Last, if that doesn't work, you will need to keep call blocking and try the # after dialing.

Please comment back if it does or doesn't work. We don't see much pulse dial around here.

Need to change phone back to tone dialing

Here's what the manual says: Changing the Dial Mode (Tone or Pulse Dialing) (HS1 only) Your phone can communicate with the telephone network in two different ways: tone dialing or pulse dialing. These days, most phone networks use a method called tone dialing, so your phone comes programmed for tone dialing. If your phone company uses pulse dialing, you need to change your phone's dial mode. If you don't get a dial tone or can't connect to the telephone network, follow the steps below to modify your phone?s settings: With the phone in standby, press and hold [cid/menu]. Press [vol/ / ] to move the pointer to select DIAL. Press [select/channel] to set the phone to pulse dialing. Press [end]. Return the handset to the base. The handset communicates the new setting to the base, and the base activates the setting on any other handsets. Hope this helps out. K

Cannot call out or answer a call

The only thing I can think of is you may be in the wrong dial mode. If you do not have touch tone service you will hear the tones but it will not connect. Try setting it to pulse and see if you can call out. Check you volume or see if the mute has been set. Have you tried a different phone? you might want to borrow a phone from a neighbor to see if it is a service problem or just your phone.
