SOURCE: replacing RAM in Dell Dimension 3000

Upgrading RAM will not affect your files. Just make sure you upgrade with compatible RAM & that you install it in pairs. So if you want 2 GB then you would want to be 2 x 1 GB RAM chips. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

There is an L shaped lever on the back. Press and hold that down and push side panel of case back. It will lift off. When you put it back on just align the slots on the bottom edge and push forward to close it.

SOURCE: i need a new processor and motherboard for a dell dimension 3000

As posted by Smithbrother, you can't just put any motherboard in a Dell--the case and motherboard are built for each other. You would be better off buying another computer. A new motherboard means a different processor (like you want). This means a different, higher speed memory.
You can have a system built by a local computer person or browse some of the sites (you can go to Dell for some real deals--as well as other company sites).
Any new system will not have "only pci slots." The new boards will have PCI-E slots for your video, but will also have some PCI slots for expansion.
Cost? That's hard to say. I have to do an estimate for each of my clients depending on just what they want.

Hello Mr. Expert I have a Dell Dimension 3000 desktop. I upgraded to bios to A03. Is it possible to upgrade to a higher version. Thanks,

Hi!

The A03 is for now the latest version for the BIOS of Dell Dimension 3000

And a tip for you: upgrading bios is only necessary when real issues occure and the computer doesn't work properly.

Please let me know if it helped

How much ram memory can i put into a dell dimension 3000?

On a Dell Dimension 3000, there are 2 memory slots.
The maximum RAM memory capacity is 2 GB or 2048 MB.
For prices and availability of parts and upgrades for this system, call 1-800-357-3355, which is the sales dept of Dell.
(I am presuming that you are in the USA).

I have a dell dimension 3000 and i want to upgrade ram

Hello,

Best thing to do is to go to www.crucial.com and run their system scan. It will tell you how much you have, how much it will hold, and what kind of RAM you need.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Added 2g to a dell dimension 3000, only 1g recognized

Dell has a really good support site. You log on, enter your service tag number (on the top of side of your PC) and they will tell you exactly how much ram you support, the type of ram needed and how many slots it has. If it was a matching pair then it should be working, unseat it and reseat it, it may not be in all the way. If still don't show then put it back in the old computer and see if it reads it. If not then the RAM stick got damaged during the move. But no doubt you should be able to handle more that 1GB of RAM. Good Luck, let me know if you have any questions.

Is the video card built into the motherboard? If not you can try replacing just the video card to see if that works. Otherwise I am afraid you may have to replace the motherboard.

Upgrading RAM in a Dell Dimension Dim 3000

It could be one of two things:
1) Bad Ram chip (different brands), mostly DoA when buying with fleabay.
2) the U on the chip means 'unbuffered'.
3) check the following responses from other forums (specially #5):

Hope That Helps!
