Why water drop before lever raised until top position?

I just bought La Pavoni Pro machine few days ago. I found the water drop/flow down before the lever raised until top position. What caused this problem and how to fix it?

\\this might be caused by a worn piston seal. see here how to replace seals.

In my case, the machine is recently bought, within a month. The water comes out when the lever position is required up high and high, probably the water will not come out next month.Just wonder if there is a way to reset the lever position for water to come out.

The relief valve has a toggle inside that is heat activated. This can stick. I found if you tap it with a spoon the toggle will release and the valve will close.

Ah ha! I just fixed the problem.

The black steam knob is bonded to the shaft. The shaft/knob assembly is removed by rotating the spring keeper on the brass housing the shaft fits into by 90 degrees to allow the shaft to be pulled out once the knob is rotated enough to disengage its thread from the brass housing.

Once the cover over the boiler is removed you will see three thermostats mounted on top of the boiler.

The middle one has the reset button located between the two power connectors. Push it down and you will hear a metallic snap as it resets.

I now have a working La Pavoni Pisa Espresso Machine again and it was free to fix it!

Wooo Hooo!!!

SOURCE: I bought a LA PAVONI

Hi,

This problem could occur due to to two problems.

1)Blockages in the valves. There are many valves present that will cause this issue.
When it is blocked due to dust particles it will block the flow.Check in the the diagram of how
to separate the La Pavoni.Apply some air pressure at the valve knob endings and the flow turnings.

2)Piston may to block the flow.So take it clean and place it properly.

Here is the parts diagram which will help you take apart the La Pavoni.

La pavoni slow water flow

Try running some white vinegar through it as if you was making coffee (but don't use any coffee) and when done either repeat processes or run a clean pot of water to clean out the vinegar and see if the water is coming out faster. You might need to repeat process a few times. The vinegar breaks down any hard water residue.

Hi if there is Vapor coming from the grouphead when the lever is down then I would guess there is a problem with the seals around the piston and possibly elsewhere. Here is a link to a goos site that looks at repairing La Pavoni lever machines. Good luck.

Pavoni piston can't go high enough to let water into the chamber

hi
you probably have your piston rod is little bit loose from piston so it does not raise piston high enough so group head must be disassemble and reconnect the rod with loctite

Hi your grind is to course and or your tamp is to loose. Even with the right grind and tamp water will filter down through the puck eventually.

Espresso comes out of comes out of spout before handle is raised

Hi there, i am Mr La Pavoni and am based in Glasgow, Scotland. I service and repair these machines all day every day and basically it could be a couple of different things. If it is pre 2000 then it could either be the piston gaskets or the piston shaft has come slightly unscrewed from the piston head. If it is post 2000 then it could be any of the above but also in these models there is an additional sleeve inside the group head which may be cracked or the seal on this part may need replacing. It could even just be a tiny bit of debris on one of the piston gaskets. If you have removed the shower plate and gasket and then taken out the piston assembley then you should really replace these gaskets anyway. You can purchase the parts on my website www.theespressoshop.co.uk which are all individually priced and every part is available for the lever machines. If you require any further assistance then please do not hesitate to get in touch at [email protected]

All the best

On a La Pavoni europicola which way do the piston seals get installed, both the same way or opposite to each other?

Normally on lever machines the top seal sits with the cup area(slash in gasket) facing up and the bottom facing down.
