SOURCE: belkin wireless router

Hi,

Your Belkin router is normally configured to get a dynamic IP Add from your Internet provider unless otherwise configured. Most ISP's network where clients/subscribers connect (through DSL) has a DHCP server that hands out this IP adds. If your router keeps on changing its WAN IP add, it may presumably be because:
1. Your router keeps on rebooting or powering on/off and everytime it turns on, it is given a new IP add;
2. Your ISP's DHCP server keeps on renewing its lease on the IP add given to your router.

Corrective measures would entail:
a. Do a full hard reset of your router and go through the installation setup again. Of course this would revert all settings/configuration to factory default; and/or
b. Contact your ISP and explain your concern.

In some cases, the router's MAC address has an issue that the ISP's DHCP is keeping a hard time recognizing it. this can be corrected with a firmware update.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things tunrs up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kin regards.

SOURCE: IP address

Hi tammyhope,
I would guess that your ISP is providing a dynamic IP address for connectivity to the internet. If your router is changing the IP address back to default, I would think that your configuration is not setup properly, to receive a dynamic address, but is set with a static address instead. So what happens is that when you attempt to connect to your ISP your router is resetting. If this is the case then you need to go into the router configuration and set it to recieve a dynamic address from your ISP.

SOURCE: need to add a computer to the DHCP client list of Belkin router

You can't add a computer to DHCP Client table manually, because DHCP client table is automatic. If you wanna know the MAC address of your computer, go to Start > Run > type CMD and press enter. On the command prompt type in IPCONFIG/ALL and look for Physical Address. That is also the MAC Address of your computer.

Can not access network router's administration console(belkin)

What is the model of the router? Most have a physical reset/factory reset button built into them. If the password is lost, the best way to recover the device is to perform a factory reset, then login with the default password and reconfigure it as if it were a new device..

Reset my belkin router now i can't connect to

if you truly reset your router then you may have to reconfigure it. If your belkin router is also your dsl modem or cable modem then you will have to call your ISP provider and get your user id and password to start with.
I have a feeling this device does double as your modem since you now cannot connect. Most routers will work as a router right out of the box. However if your modem is seperate then it may expect your router to have a different subnet for its IP address then the default. Try plugging your computer directly into the modem if that is the case. If it works then just reset the routers IP address to be on the same subnet.

F5D7231-4 stopped connecting to Internet via downstream router

Why did you change it from dynamic to static? My suggestion would be to put it back to dynamic and let it grab a good ip address from the gateway. The other option is to contact whoever managed the network at your apartment and see what they will charge you for a static IP address.

My Belkin G Wireless Router cant even get passed step 1. My lap top recieves the signal but their is no internet! Help please

Since your unable to access internet through the router(wireless) ,& globe light is flashing--I suggest you to refresh the network list and connect to your network again still if it won't work then you need to Re- configure it. Because your Modem(cable/dsl) is working fine. Check the ip address of your computer. if its invalid then you need to do the "reset" on router (ip address should be 192.168.2... range).
Or else you can call (toll free number) for belkin for reconfiguration
Hope this suggestion helps for you both...
