This is probably due to the DVD laser diode being faulty. The CD laser diode is a separate diode (within the same unit). If this is the case then you need a replacement laser unit.
if the system turns on but will not read a game try a dvd movie or music cd. If dvd movies dont' play and the music cd does then your laser is out of calibration. The process to calibrate it is difficult and requires more technical knowledge. It is best to take it to a service center or have someone replace the DVDROM which coudl be cheaper than paying to clean and calibrate the laser.
Your Xbox 360 lens are most likely dirty. And your 360 probably has something like dust stopping it from scanning your games. I suggest blowing into your DVD drive carefully and gently. If it still doesn't work I recommend sending your Xbox 360 back to Microsoft for a new one if your under warranty. If you don't have a warranty you could clean you lens by your self. But opening your 360 to clean the lens could make it worse so do it at your own risk.
this is a common problem faced in xbox360..you have to use original DVD else the low quality DVD leads to damage your xbox360 lens...for further reference click here for repair guide....
well there we have it again look this is a world wide problem and the reason for this **** is the cd dvd player embeded in the 360 u see the player is **** as because when u start a game or a movie the cd or dvd wobbles a lot thus it either gets stuck or does not work at all lol this is an orientation problem of the player well the solution is simple just call the guys at microsoft and after nagging a bit they will agree to replace it dont try to open it or that chance will also be gone and oh yes they replace the old ones with refurbished or repaired ones lol
try to play it on another xbox....might be the cd....if so try to get another cd. if not uninstall and reinstall the patches. or also try to rip the contents of the dvd-rom to the hard drive and play with both disc and hard drive....maybe too much stress on the dvd-rom drive such as overheating or cyclic rundary errors
this is a possible laser read problem.
Try an official DVD Movie. And also a music CD.
if it reads nothing at all, i,d suggest a laser head cleaner.
Or a replacement DVD Drive.
If your xbox box it's new I would take it back and get another one, becase you do probable have problems with your dvd drive and it will keep scratching the games. the laser on the drive doesn't work as hard when playing a music cd than when it plays a game or a dvd.
If you don't want to take it back, then play a couple dvds and if it reads then fine then you could try again. it shiudn't take more than ten second to read a game so if its taking longer just get it out.
i suggest unplugging the cat5 cable(the one that provides internet access) or remove the wifi adaptor and test if it runs good. if that doesn't work, then your problem lies with the actual xbox hardware. if it works, you have a very unstable internet connection.
