SOURCE: problems setting up 2 wire router
well, go to homeportal/management, type the system password, and on that page you will see the management and diagnostic console of your 2wire modem. there you can make the changes for the wireless channels of the modem. under local network, click on wireless, maximize wireless channels to 11 and set the power settings to 10, then make sure SSID is enabled, WEP is set to default encryption & WEP-open, then click on the submit button on the upper or lower right corner of the screen. then click on statistics, make sure wireless is able to transmit / receive wireless packets. then try to connect to your 2wire network, the SSID is actually 2wirexxx (xxx stands for the last 3 nos. of the serial no.) if it asks for the security key or passphrase for the security enabled network, type the nos. enclosed in brackets found at the barcode sticker just below the serial no. (SN). check if you are able to connect with full access, of course the 2wire modem must be connected using ethernet cable to access the MDC.
for additional info, go to 2wire.com
SOURCE: How to set a static IP address in Windows behind a Linksys Router
Sorry mate but you have kinda lost me here, if you need a static IP address for the internet you need to contact you isp and they will provide you one, if you want to set your machine to set IP Address just go into properties for local network connection and use somthing like 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 and leave the dns to obtain. but you wont be able to set a internet static ip address by doing this, only way is to contact your isp.. All the best John
