R.A My player wont turn on, worked one day not the next. Changed the battery no difference. If I plug into my PC the screen activates but I cannot get the MP3 to start when pushing the Play button.
First try resetting it, if that doesn't work, I wonder if it could be a short in the on/off button's circuit....if you're comfortable with doing this, try taking as much of it apart as you can, to clean all contact points, etc.

Try this. Turn your computer off. Plug in the mp3 via usb port with player in the on postion. Turn the computer back on. You should a large green battery symbol on the screen flashing left to right. Took me about 3 days of finally fiqure it out. Also try different USB ports if you have more than one. Good Luck
Make sure the player is fully charged. 1. Connect the player to your computer. 2. Make sure the computer detects the player. NOTE: If needed, switch the player to MSC mode, 1. Turn device OFF. 2. Slide the Hold switch down to Lock (orange color showing). 3. Press and hold the center button while connecting the device to the PC.then connect it to the PC. Next Be sure the battery is charged 1. Leave the player connected for approximately 2 hours to charge. 2. Disconnect the player from the PC. 3. Verify if you can turn on the player. 4. Reset the player if necessary. To reset the player: 1. Press and hold the Power/Menu button for approximately 20 seconds. 2. Release the Power/Menu button. 3. Press the Power/Menu button again to turn on the player. If that does not do it, re-seat the battery: Then try and see if it will come on with out the battery hooked to your computer, which I see you have done but did you change modes MSC to MTP . next delete the song it keeps hanging on and re-copy it back on to the player from a different folder or re-rip it from the CD and copy it into a new folder then re-copy to the player.
your battery has run out and needs to be charged that's why it is not turning on. connect it to a another usb port on your computer and it should be able to turn on and charge, it should work, if you still have problems, comment back.
Ensure the key lock is not activated by sliding
"Power on/off ( )/Hold" towards the center
position. If your player isn’t already on, turn it on by
sliding "Power on/off ( )/Hold" to the left
and holding until the player turns on.
I just plugged connected my e260 via synch cord to my PC and imdiately changed my mind, unplugging it. Froze it with green connecting arrows, but no "connecting" title at the top. Upon pressing the power button, the device screen went blank as if off (but I could just barely see that it was still on).
Pulling the battery worked to reset it. It restarted when I turned it on again and is now synching.
