SOURCE: Ricoh CL3000 Laser Replace Waste toner
Couple of things to try: - If you just emptied the waste cartridge then you have to take the bottle back out and clean the insides as well. The sensor sees the toner on the walls and still thinks it?s full. FYI as typical the manufacturer recommends replacing the bottle with a brand new one. - If not that then you may have toner covering the optical sensor. Try blowing the area where the waste bottle attaches to the printer with canned air. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate this post.

The used toner bottle is not actually a bottle at all. Not sure what you emptied, but it sounds like the actual toner bottle itself. The waste toner is contained with in the transfer belt unit. When you open the right side cover, this is the unit that is attached to the door. It is a brown belt that provides transfer of the image to the drum and separates the paper from the drum. Remove this unit by locating the release levers on either side of the transfer unit (push both of them towards the machine). After removing, you will need to actually take the belt unit off of the transfer unit. To do this, remove the two tension springs on either side, and then take a small flat bladed scredriver and release the clips that hold it down (you will see when you get started). Once you get it off, you will see the long blade that actually scrapes the toner off the belt. Dump the waste toner out this end. You will need to shake it pretty hard. A better (and cleaner) option is to vaccum it out using the crevace tool on you vac. Just make sure you completely empty it. Now....do everything in reverse.
Hope this helps,
Chad
SOURCE: message says to add toner after I replace toner
1. Open front door and pull out toner hopper.
2. Remove toner and make sure it still hase the clear cap on the top fully inserted in the bottle. If cap is missing and you can see the toner in bottle, it's a lost cause get a new toner bottle.
3. Lay toner bottle in hopper and push toner hopper in the machine while keeping the green latch up all the way through the pushing motion. This is critical to ensure the cap will come off. Once toner hopper is pushed all the way in, push the green lever down. Again it is mportant to mention that the gree lever must be up till the toner hopper is ushed in all the way. Then and only then the green lever may be pushed down.
4. Allow machine to load toner.
5. If it still says add toner, open and close front door. Again allow machine to load toner. You may have to do this up to five times (open and close front door) to replenish the deleoper unit with toner.
This problem is common with these machines if you do several copies of a dark original or print. The developer gets depleted of toner, it just cant keep up and then the machine says add toner.

There are 2 primary paper sensors. One is the registration sensor where the paper feeds in, the second is associated with the fuser unit.
The first sensor is located under a cover under the transfer unit.
i) Open the door
ii) Lift out the transfer unit (Q3964A)
iii) Locate the black plastic cover plate with a small green flap in the centre. This assembly is directly under where the transfer unit was installed.
iv) There are 2 shiny screws that secure this cover plate. Carefully remove these screws.
v) Lift out the black cover plate by lifting the left section up first which allows the right section to come clear of gears.
vi) Check for paper obstructing the small movable lever under the cover plate.
vii) To reinstall the cover plate, insert the right hand side down first and line up with the mounting holes.
I can supply photos if required.

This is probably one of two things, first it could be is that the stopper out of the old bottle has got stuck inside the Toner hopper and preventing the hopper from getting toner from the new bottle.
This would be caused by the second problem that is the hopper is more than likely clogged up and the jaws that grab the toner bottle cap cannot open, you can either clean the hopper out, it can be dismantled by removing the silver pin on the green handle, but do be care full as when this pin is removed you will fire the internals out accross the room, so have your hand in front to cach them, then just clean it out reassemble and you should be fine.
Just remember always try the simple fix with copiers, so many engineers look way to far into problems whenit's staring them in the face, i am a Technical Specialist with Ricoh Masters and find a lot of basic faults are overlooked
