Raid 1 how to use raid or mirroring ina ibm x 3400 server system ,it has 2 hdd of 250 gb,and work with Linux server

Not sure what the questions is, reconfiguring a mirrored raid is a destructive process so all info on the drives will be gone.
That said this is managed through the SCSI configuration which you can get into at boot usually by pressing one of the function keys when prompted at boot up.

you can access the raid controller using the BIOS and system devices>>> refresh>>> then select the controller then create your raid...

go for RAID1, which is best in this setup.

Windows not see the disk because they are connected through a raid controller.
When you start the recovery windows you have to offer the installer the driver for raid. Installer wait new driver only 5 seconds. During this time you must press "F3" and point driver on floppy.

What the paltform's dirvers you want?I have the Linux drivers of IBM System 3650,including the RAID tools etc.The difference of both server hardware is not too much.Maybe you can use it too.

You would need 4 Hard disk drives in total. you would need to create 2 RAID 0 (striping) and then Mirror them (RAID 1). to elaborate, HDD A&B will be at RAID 0 as well as HDD C&D. after, you would have to Mirror your two RAID 0. (raid 0+1 is also known as raid 5)

I faced the same problem i asked to the ibm people they said that non ibm hdd's are not supporting x3400 servers and they are hanging when we work with non ibm hdds. when I use segate 1 TB sata hard disk the server working fine the only problem is little bit slow for booting and programme running, this not a broblem. so pls use 1 TB sata hdds with your x3400 servers.

The Perc RAID controller in a 2600 doesn't support RAID 4.
You can do RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 5.

With 3 HDD's your best bet would be a RAID 5.

Mirroring is RAID 1 (which would only use 2 of the drives)
