Why does my eject button not work?

The eject button on my CD player when pressed makes a noise, but does not open. What can be wrong? How can I fix it? I just got it from a friend, he must have had it many years unused. Thank you in advance.

The drive belt is either slipping or broken, keeping the cd tray from coming out.

Testimonial: "Thanks. I opened it. I see one belt and that one seems fine. When I pull gently the top part of the drive it opens. Do you have any ideas how to fix this? I can send a picture or a video."

  • n3evg May 14, 2014

I believe the belt that seems fine is actually stretched, and when the motor tries to turn the eject pulley that the belt turns that it spins without moving the pulley. A new belt if you can find one will likely fix your problem.

It sounds possible. Last question: where can I look for a belt?

Denon, dn-c550r recordable dual cd player, right side tray will not eject...

If the right side tray of your Denon DN-C550R recordable dual CD player is not ejecting, there may be a mechanical problem that is preventing the tray from opening. Here are some steps you can try to fix the issue:
  1. Make sure that the CD player is turned off and unplugged from the power source.
  2. Check to see if there are any obstructions that may be preventing the tray from opening, such as a CD that is stuck in the tray or debris that has fallen into the CD player.
  3. If there are no visible obstructions, try gently tapping on the top of the CD player to see if this dislodges any mechanical parts that may be preventing the tray from opening.
  4. If tapping doesn't work, you can try opening the CD player and manually releasing the tray. To do this, you will need to remove the cover of the CD player and locate the manual release mechanism for the tray. This is usually a small lever or button that you can push or pull to manually release the tray.
  5. If none of these steps work, there may be a more serious mechanical issue with the CD player that requires professional repair.
It's great that you were able to fix the left side tray by replacing the band. However, if the right side tray is still not ejecting, there may be a different mechanical problem that needs to be addressed.

2003 BMW X5 E53. Why doesn't the CD cartridge eject?

There could be several reasons why the CD cartridge is not ejecting from your 2003 BMW X5 E53. Here are some steps you can try to get it out and potential causes of the issue:
  1. Check the CD player: First, make sure that the CD player is on and functioning properly. If the player is not working, it may not be able to eject the cartridge. Check the player for any error messages or signs of malfunction.
  2. Press the eject button: Try pressing the eject button on the CD player. If the cartridge is still not ejecting, you may need to try a different method.
  3. Use a thin object: If the eject button is not working, you can try using a thin object, such as a paperclip or needle, to press the eject button. Insert the object into the small hole near the eject button and push gently. This may release the cartridge.
  4. Check the cartridge: If the cartridge is still not ejecting, there may be a problem with the cartridge itself. Check the cartridge for any signs of damage or wear. Make sure that the CDs are properly inserted into the cartridge.
  5. Check the CD player mechanism: If the cartridge is not damaged and the CD player is functioning properly, the issue may be with the CD player mechanism. In this case, you may need to take the car to a mechanic or a BMW dealership for repair.
It's worth noting that some BMW models have a security feature that prevents the CD cartridge from ejecting if the battery has been disconnected or the car has been jump-started. If this is the case, you may need to enter a security code to unlock the CD player before you can eject the cartridge. Check your car's manual for instructions on how to enter the security code.

CD stuck in tray for DXZ648RMP player

Figure out what fuse controls the CD player and pull the fuse out for a minute (or more), then replace it (theory being that the fuse acts as a reset button). If you cannot find the fuse, you can disconnect the negative battery cable, but you'll lose your radio and other settings. This trick seems to have the greatest chance of success overall.
Turn your ignition on to the accessory position. Hold the eject button down for 2 or 3 minutes. Depending on your make/model, the eject button may flash. When the button stops flashing (or when a few minutes has passed), release the button and immediately press it again (theory being that the two minutes of "work" followed by a quick break will fool the player into releasing the disc when you press the eject button again).
Try using some tweezers, needle nose pliers or hemostats (every tool kit needs a hemostat or two!) to pull the CD out while pressing the eject button with power going to the player (theory being that the disc is so slick the player can't eject it without help). Some people report success just by pulling the disc out with the tweezers without power to the player and without pressing the eject button.
If your player has a small hole in the front of it, like most personal computer CD players do, straighten a paperclip and push the clip straight into the hole to manually release the catch. Some players have a groove under the CD door instead of a hole. Look for a hole about the size of the paperclip and don't mistake an emergency release hole for an earphone jack.

CD do not eject

I have the same prob with mine right now and thats why I came here was to find the manual. In the manual it states that that when something like this happens you need to hold two buttons for a few seconds and what it does is it resets the cpu in the deck. I had to do it before and yes I was kind of leary of the solution also but IT WORKED!! Now I'll have to dig before posting this otherwise I didnt just create a common solution I talked about it. Ok while holding power/ATT press eject for more than two seconds, and it says careful not to drop the cd~~~DAAA Or to reset the unit: While holding SEL (select) press power/ATT for more than two seconds and that will reset the unit to factory defaults. And this was actually from my owners manual of which I found...
