Remove the needleplate, turn the machine upside down and try to shake it out.

SOURCE: Machine is locked up

When you say you can't get the arm to move are you talking about the needle bar, if this is the case the chances are if you broke the needle there may be a piece stuck in the bobbib case area but can you be a bit more explicit. Thanks Ken [email protected]

SOURCE: FEW STITCHES DROP IN BOBBIN

Dropped stitches troubleshooting:
1>change to a new proper needle (proper needle means quilting needles for free motion, stretch needle for knits, leather needle for leather, microtex needle for micro fabrics.....etc.) of proper size. Most sewers never need a needle smaller then an 80/12 when sewing. Smaller needles bend more easily causing more problems.
2>If a new needle doesn’t fix the problem, remove parts from bobbin case area (as best as easily allowable) and clean out all the lint thoroughly, and oil with 2-3 drops of oil where friction occurs (turn hand wheel and look for rubbing)
3>If still skipping, try a different spool of thread (Yes, thread can caused skipped stitches, not common but I see it).
4>If you haven’t solved it yet, sounds like you could need to make a lower level adjustment like hook timing.
Hook Timing:
To time the machine, you want the tip of the hook to pass just over the top of the eye of the needle when the needle is in the left most or right most position depending on which side the eye of the needle will be higher

Before you put the cam in did you make sure the machine was set on straight stitch and then select zig zag?

SOURCE: I have a Janome 6260. My machine sewed great, but

I've had the Lo come on my screen of my sewing machine also, but normally when I turned it off it corrected the jam up.
Lo- A button is pressed when the machine halts due to a overload
wait 15 seconds to recover
if thread jamming causes the overload, remove the tangled thread
check the bobbin area for lint & loose threads
also check to see if the bobbin is warped
check you needle to see if it's bent-roll on a flat surface to see if it rolls correctly
if it's blunt it makes a popping sound when going thru fabric
let me know if these suggestions help

How do I put a new needle in

Depends what machine it is. Generally, there is a screw that holds the needle in place. You'll need to loosen the screw (do not drop the needle into the machine), remove the needle. And do NOT drop the screw as it will be lost forever! Pay attention to what direction the needle was facing. Then insert the new needle facing the same direction, push it all the way up, and tighten the screw.

The needle dropped into the machine when I was trying to change the needle. Is there any way I can get the needle out myself?

Consult your owner's manual. Usually, if you remove the bobbin and the shuttle, the needle will fall free.

You can also try (carefully!), turning the machine upside down and gently shaking it.

Dropped needle down bobbin area

Check around the bottom inside the machine. If it is not sticking in the needle plate or stuck in the bobbin area, then it has dropped all the way through. Be sure to remove not only the bobbin, bobbin case, but also the hook if possible. You may be able to tilt your machine or gently shake it and the needle will appear.

How do I remove the needle for maintenance?

This may help:

How To Change Sewing Machine Needle

NOTE: Be sure the needle is installed with the flat side facing the correct direction in your sewing machine. Not all machines have the needle installed with the flat side facing back--with about a fourth of the sewing machines, the flat side actually faces the side. Your owner's manual would be the best place to learn about your machine.

Sewing machine jammed with needle down and material can not be removed. Help I can break the needle, I really just want the fabric out.

Usually, the needle & fabric will release if you are able to remove the bobbincase and the needleplate. You should probably try to do this to remove the broken needle tip, although usually it will drop out of the bobbin area and land somewhere in the bottom of the machine.

How do I remove a stuck bobbin casing from a Bernina sewing machine?

Is it a drop in bobbin machine? If so, take off the needle and the needle plate (=throat plate), and you should have clearance to pull it out. If it's a vertical bobbin machine, taking off the needle plate may buy you the extra clearance you need to get things out again. Sometimes a drop of sewing machine oil every where you see a potential "bind spot" can help. Just mop out the excess oil after you've retrieved the bits that fell in.

How do I remove the needle from my Brother Overlocker

HOLD needle before you turn needle clamp screw towards you to loosen. I emphasize holding needles a's you remove them because many sewists have accidentally DROPPED needles down into their machines! TURN OFF POWER & UNPLUG! You will have two needles (standard #11 and a #14 but check your manual, please!). Although the needles will be same length, the left one will APPEAR higher when you insert into the needle bar. The flat shank goes to the BACK, more "rounded" side of needle/s facing you. Jimmy

Need to get needle that I dropped into the sewing machine shaft.

Hi there,
If you don't want to take it to a "repairer" then I would suggest that you remove the screws and open up the machine to retrieve the needle. Just be mindful of where you removed the screws from i.e. the size as there may be several different sizes.
